Contemplation

He shook and shivered inside his cell as he pondered over how he had come to be imprisoned in the place that he had built up; the place where he had intended to send anyone and everyone who opposed the regime that he was trying to implement.

Sure starting a war hadn't been the best strategy, but when you have so many people reusing to obey and listen to his rational words of wisdom, what else could he have done?

All Gellert had wanted to do was help wizards to finally be able to have the freedom to practice magic out in the open without the fear of punishment, instead of finding a shadow to lurk in like they have something sinister to hide.

He had felt that witches and wizards from all over the world had become a slave to their fear; fear that had been instilled in everyone because of political figures using their influence to gain more and more power. It was not and is not right.

Gellert had thought that he was making a lot of progress towards his goals; he had the majority of the mainland Europe witches and wizards behind him, and he had been planning on turning his attention to Great Britain, where his fiercest rival was hiding like a coward.

Also, he had been quite certain after further independent research that the two remaining Deathly Hallows were located there. Gellert had been quite certain after looking into the Peverell family tree that the invisibility cloak had been paced down from generation to generation and if his suspicions were correct it was with the Potters of Godric's Hollow. How he wished now that he had gone to Great Britain and left one of his faithful lieutenants in charge sooner.

However on the eve of his travels to Great Britain, his old friend had crept out of the woodwork and finally taken him on, and in fierce battle he had let Albus get the better of him. His friend come foe not only took control of the Elder Wand, but imprisoned him in his own prison.
