This was actually a poem I had to come up with for a college class i'm taking at school, called Effective Speaking. Its actually the very first poem I have ever written. I hope you enjoy this poem everyone! Please leave comments. :)

Stormy Seas

Inspired by the novel, "A Child Called It" by Dave Pelzer

On this cold turbulent night

I lift my head to the sound of a crashing current

As if ruminating its last breath

Every sway it devises makes my body quiver in fright

I can almost feel its power sway against my chest.

Each minute passes

The stormy seas make haste

It's bitter wind thrashes with force

Nearly beating against my face

I didn't know what to expect next

My heart beats faster as birds above the storm begin to flock

My vision only a blur

I cower at its icy current as it advances towards me and roars

Its violent tides lashing the rocks

A surge of domination swept upon its shores

My lungs filled with sand

I could hardly weep

The seas clammy hands embrace my neck

My heart leapt

All I wanted to do was speak

But just as I thought it was the end

The tenacious blows to my face shift and faint

I begin to catch my breath

It has finally ran its course and its fierce roar becomes weak

I open my dry eyes, as water no longer escapes

It's stormy seas diminishing; all it can do is whisper

I regain my composure but could hardly speak.

"Mom?" I said

She didn't answer.

At that moment I knew I was free.

e-mail: is the violent relationship with a mother. How it swells and how the fights happen. You don't know what to do and all you can do is let it happen. It's either your death or her leaving that allows you to be free.
