Tarot of the Week

Author's Note: This used to be a chapter-fic, Tarot of the Week, but I decided to separate them since they are not related and are from different categories.

The Three of Swords has the picture of a heart being pierced by three swords. Needless to say, this isn't going to be a lovely dovey fanfic for Valentine's Day.

Week 7: Three of Swords (Katekyo Hitman Reborn)

Sawada Nana is a very forgiving person. She can forgive her husband for keeping secrets. She can forgive him for leaving her to raise their son alone. She can forgive the guns and weapons she found hidden around the house. She can even forgive him and his boss for crippling their son.

Actually, no, she can't.

Tsuna is a bright and happy child, but everything changed the day Iemitsu brings his boss, Timeoto, to visit. Her son falls asleep after playing for too long, so he doesn't even get the chance to say goodbye to the two men. But once he wakes up from his nap, Nana know that something went horribly wrong.

He becomes unbelievably clumsy, constantly tripping over things, even thin air. He can't comprehend the lessons taught at school; and he is bullied for it, even though he keeps trying to reassure her that nothing is wrong. But how can she possibly ignore his bruises and scrapes? How can she ignore the whispers of Dame-Tsuna when she goes out into town?

Nana doesn't know what to do. How can she help her son when she doesn't even know what her husband did in the first place?

Then, one day, a baby arrives at her doorsteps, claiming to be a home tutor Iemitsu sent to help her son. She lets him into her abode, into her territory, with a seemingly oblivious smile. She watches carefully as Tsuna begins to make friends and regain confidence in himself, so she forgives the chaos and dangers Reborn bring her son.

But when Iemitsu sends a notice of his arrival, the bitterness swells up again. After almost a decade of absence, now he comes to visit? She knows better than to believe that this is the vacation he claims to be.

Nana plays the fool when he enters her home. She gushes over him just as he expects her to and cooks up a feast for his return. She launders his clothes and breaks out the alcohol. Most of all, she carefully bides her time.

When Iemitsu suddenly collapses dead in the middle of a ring battle, Nana is at home, cheerfully washing the dishes without a care in the world.
