Pains and Pills
Azkadellia held her head in her hands, pushing her stiff back closer to the side of the bed. Light blue bedcovers pooled around her curled body. The pulsing pain radiated throughout her head all the way down to the tips of her toes.
She tried to take deep breaths between the pulses, but it didn't help. Nothing helped, except for the pills.
A small slit between the navy blue curtains let in a beam of moonlight. Slowly she reached over to the mahogany night-table next to her bed. Pulling open the top drawer, she reached in moving her fingertips to the spot where she knew the red and blue pills lay.
Her thin pale hand closed around the small objects. She brought them up to eye level. Her brown eyes taking in the sight of these red and blue pills.
She told herself she didn't need them. That this was the last time she would take them, but she knew, deep down she knew that it was a lie.
Before more real thoughts could assault her, she shoved the three pills past her lips. They slowly slid down her throat.
The effects were instantaneous. Her head lulled backwards on to the bed as the pain resided like crashing waves.
"I guess nobody wins" she whispered to the dark bedroom.
