On an island in the sea,

Across waters of ocean blue,

There lived a boy and family,

With friends to play with, too.

This boy was very special,

He had a heart of light,

As did all the children in that place,

A world called Destiny Islands.

The boy called Sora, and his friends.

Decided to leave that world,

They wanted adventure, a change in life,

And so they began to build a raft.

The night before they wanted to leave,

A storm came in from over the sea,

Sora went to save the raft,

And saw his friend's boats as well.

Running toward the palm tree grove,

He found his friend Riku,

Sora yelled: "Where's Kairi?"

And Riku replied: "I thought she was with you."

Suddenly darkness swarmed around Sora's friend,

And Riku laughed and held out his hand,

"Don't be afraid" he called,

"Embrace the darkness, it won't hurt you."

Sora looked at Riku, and fear was in his eyes,

"Where is the friend I always knew?"

He asked inside his mind,

As he stepped towards Riku.

Suddenly Sora tripped and fell,

Riku disappeared into the dark,

And as Sora looked up he saw,

Black things across the bridge.

Suddenly inside his hand,

There came a sort of warmth,

And inside Sora's heart,

He felt the same light.

Glancing down, he saw a key,

Or was it a blade instead?

A key blade, whispered a voice in his mind,

And Sora ran across the bridge.

Swiping the creatures out of his way,

With strokes from the bright key blade,

Sora ran to the secret place,

That he and Riku discovered one day.

Inside the secret place,

Which was a cave by the waterfall,

Sora found Kairi, looking at a door,

And gasped as she turned around.

Kairi's eyes were vacant,

Her movements slow and odd,

Suddenly a wind began to blow,

And Sora held out his arms.

Kairi slowly said his name,

And her voice was not her own,

She was blown towards Sora,

And as he tried to catch her, she was gone.

With a gasp, Sora looked around,

His Island was being torn apart,

In front of him stood a giant shadow,

As pieces of land flew toward the stars.

Sora gazed at the shadow,

The thing moved forward and attacked,

Bringing up his key blade, Sora fought back,

And hit the thing on the head.

The giant shadow fell to the ground,

And darkness pooled all over the earth,

Covering Sora's feet, yet again he slipped,

And the darkness slowly covered him.

"Riku! Kairi!" yelled the boy,

And the darkness covered his face,

While the voice spoke inside his head again,

Saying: "Fear not, for you are the one that will open the door."
