The day we lost the most Magical man is almost here and I just wanted Oswald to know the truth about what happened to Walt Disney after Oswald was forgotten. Enjoy.
Oswald looked up at his statue of Walt. He wanted to see his father again. Mickey could tell him all about Walt's magic, Oswald thought.
Walt's Magic.
Oswald was now a part of His magic again. He longingly wished to be held in his father's magical arms again. Oswald jumped up and ran past the statue. He leaped into the Ostown projector. Mickey was overseeing that the Thinner bucket above Moody the Pirate's house was securely in place. Oswald popped out on the other side of the projector. Ortensia was helping Clarabelle with her flower Spatters. Goofy was vacuuming stray nuts and bolts from the construction going on. Not only where they securing the Thinner bucket, they were making the way to Mickeyjunk Mountain clear again. Oswald hopped over to the lovely Ortensia.
His Ortensia.
He gave her a kiss on the cheek. She giggled. He waved to Clarabelle and her Spatter garden. Then he walked over to Mickey and his crew of Gremlins. The Gremlins were banging away with their wrenches and Mickey was painting in the toon around the bucket. "Mickey! I have to talk to you!" Oswald yelled. Mickey said something to the Gremlins and hopped down to Oswald. "Hey. What do you want to talk about?"
"Walt."
Mickey went silent. He closed his eyes holding back tears. "Ozzie, it's a long story…"
"Not how He lost me. Where is He?"
Mickey shook his head. He took a breath and took Oswald's arm. Mickey led him back to Mean Street. They stopped in front of Walt. "Mickey? Where is He?" Oswald asked again. "Ozzie, He is gone."
"Forgotten?"
"No. He will never be forgotten but nobody will ever see him again." Mickey said, tears brimming in his eyes.
"What do you mean?"
"He passed on."
Oswald looked at Mickey then at the statue. Can Walt really be gone? He thought. He shook his head in disbelief.
"It's true."
Those two words started the tears. Mickey just let his fall. Oswald stared at a space above Mickey's head. He could not believe it.
I will never see Walt again.
EVER.
Oswald fell to his knees. His breathing became shallow, his sobs became louder. Mickey knelt beside him and cried too. Their father was gone.
But he will NEVER be forgotten.
Walt Disney is my idol. He made my childhood so magical, even if I never saw him living. His Magic still lives on, in the parks, in the movies, and in the memory. He will never be forgotten, even if so many of his precious creations have been. Thank you Walt Disney for your dream that was all started with a rabbit and a mouse.
