***Hi guys & girls, this is just a short scene i wrote a few months ago. The idea just popped into my head and i thought it would make a cute scene. There are no main characters as such, so they can be whoever you imagine them to be :) Enjoy!!***

He watched as she moved around the room. Rhythm overtaking her body as if she was an autumn leaf cascading in the breeze. Her red dress moving with her as though caught up in a dance of its own. She knew he was there, watching, waiting, wanting more. He gazed at her beauty, mesmerized by it, wondering how someone could be so intriguing. Her pace picked up, she was in a world of her own now, her eyes closed – she let the music guide her.

They were not alone. Other people had simply moved outside to view the night sky, filled with radiant colours of bright blues and dazzling greens of the fireworks display. And yet, there he stood, rooted to the spot, still watching the woman in front of him. It was almost as if she cast a spell over him.

Loud cheers could be heard outside. The New Year's countdown had started – "10,..". The music had stopped now, but still she moved, even though it was with slow, slight movements. "9, 8, 7…" People continued to cheer and clap somewhere far away it seemed to observer, although it couldn't have been more than a few feet.

The cold night air blew in through the open front door, lowering the temperature of the house quite drastically.

"6, 5…"

She looked at her watcher then. Deep, chocolate shaded eyes pierced his blue ones, as if wanting to peer into his very soul. He daren't look away, scared of not being able to get this moment back once broken. Time stood still between the pair, even though it carried on around them.

"4, 3, 2…"

She turned to move away, to join the rest of the crowd outside, but he pulled her towards himself. She looked back at him puzzled as if waiting for an answer to emerge from his lips.

"1…"

But without thinking, without worrying about the crowd outside or what anyone would say or do should they walk in at this particular moment in time, he kissed her.

"Happy New Year!"
