"Think you can handle a little restraint, Zero?" Azkadellia prodded.

Had she been one of his men, Zero would have shot her for the condescending tone alone. As it happened, however, she was his Queen.

Closing his eyes, trying to center himself – Why did she throw him off balance? – Zero started for the door, but stopped. Pivoting on his right leg, he turned to face her and studied the haughty look. He almost wished he had the power of the beasts, floors below, wanting to know what she was thinking.

She took a step toward him and raised an eyebrow.

"Should I find you a replacement?" she asked quietly, stepping closer. "I'd hate to think the pressure is becoming too much." She spoke slowly, raising her eyes to meet his. After a moment, Zero let loose the breath he'd been holding and motioned to the door.

"Your sister?" he asked, waiting to be excused. He had orders. Azkadellia took another step closer and trailed a finger along the hem of his collar.

"Won't get far." An thin, evil smile grew as she stepped past him. Zero followed her with his eyes and then looked to the machine in the center of the room. Indeed, the Mobats would keep an eye on them until he arrived.

He turned and left the chamber, following the same path his Queen had taken.
