Life for a ninja is almost like a dance. Leading, following. Swirling in for an attack, twirling back out to evade.
Sometimes fast paced, with jumps and kicks. Other times slow, steady and smooth.
Sometimes, people leave the dance. New people come to take their place.
Some people fall in love. Some of them fall in love with the dance itself. Others fall in love with another dancer.
He is just another beginning dancer. So is she. But she has her eye on another dancer.
He can't blame her for that. The other dancer is more determined, more powerful.
He is just an ordinary dancer. Not the best, not the worst.
So he watches her. He watches as she twirls and steps, leads and follows.
He watches, and he knows.
He knows it isn't meant to be. He knows they'll never dance the same dance. He knows he'll always turn left when turns right. He'll always turn when she goes straight.
But still, he dreams. He dreams that she'll dance with him.
And one day, he gets a chance. She dances with him. Instinctively, they both know the steps.
Twirl, twirl, jump, turn, step, kick, twirl…pause.
They're in perfect harmony.
And they know it.
So they dance, now and forever. In perfect step, on the beat of their hearts. She spins in, and he takes her in his arms.
"How was that?" she asks timidly.
"You did wonderful." He replies truthfully.
Locked in the moment, they step and spin together, in an eerie, frantic dance. The dance that takes lives, the dance that gives lives. Spinning to a song no one else can hear, they suddenly fall…in love. In love with the dance, with each other, and with the world.
"Kiba?"
"What is it, Hinata?"
"I love you."
"I know."
So still they dance.

Wow. That was a very random fanfic. Sorry if it seems like anyone else's, I didn't know! I got the idea when I was watching a HaoxAnna vid on youtube with the song "Only Shadows Dance"
