I saw her every time I went to the American History Smithsonian. I loved the museum and I loved seeing her there almost every time.
She had long-really long-dark brown hair and deep blue eyes. All I knew about her was that her name was Laura Phillips.
I brought Ben with me one day to show her to him and he laughed at me saying I had no chance and that she probably already had a boyfriend. Well, that's Ben for you.
Most of the time when I saw her she was helping people, relaxing, or drawing. I was first interested in her because I thought she was really cute, but my interest grew for her when I found out how much she loved American history. She showed me around one day and told me stuff even Ben didn't know.
Since that day the main reason I kept going back was because of her. She never saw me there, seeing as I admired her from afar. She was amazing, even from a distance. I was planning on asking her on a date soon after I talked to her some more.. I didn't care what Ben said to me.
I was there one day, looking at Jefferson's desk at the moment until I heard a soft voice behind me, "I read your book."
I turned around to see Laura standing there, my book sticking out of her bag, "Really? You read my entire book?" I was shocked, not even Ben had finished it yet.
She nodded, "Yeah, I loved it, it was very well written. Um…could you sign it for me?"
"Of course." I smiled, "Just let me see it real quick." I pulled a silver sharpie out of my pocket and signed next to the picture of myself, "There 'ya go."
She smiled and blushed, "You know, if you write another book, you should use a color photo."
"Why do you say that?" I asked. I had thought the photo I used was pretty good.
"You have really pretty eyes. Maybe then you'd have more girls following you around." She laughed a bit.
I could feel myself blush, "You really think that?"
She nodded, "I do."
"Well thank you. You know, you yourself have some pretty eyes." I blushed again.
Laura giggled, "Thank you." She looked at her watch, "Oh, I need to get back to work. A tour group is coming soon. I'm sure I'll see you later, you're here pretty much every day."
I blushed more, "You see me?"
She nodded, "Yeah, it's kinda hard not to when you're here every day following me. But I really do need to get back to work. I'll see you around Mr. Poole." She started to walk off.
"Wait!" I called out. She turned around and looked at me, "Would you like to go out to dinner with me?"
Laura blushed, "Um, sure. I'd love to." She pulled out a piece of paper and wrote her number onto it, "Here, so you can call me later."
"Alright, I will be sure to do that. Oh, and call me Riley. It'd be kinda weird if you called me Mr. Poole on a date." I laughed and took the paper from her.
She laughed too, "Okay, I'll talk to you later then, Riley." She then hurried off back to work.
I smiled to myself and laughed a bit. Just wait till I told Ben what happened.
