Tori looked around. The wind softly rustled her long, silky black hair and her soul reaper kimono.
She sighed. "I give up. Where's the damn hollow?" she said to the tall man next to her, Byakuya Kuchiki.
"It was over there." he said in his usual cold tone, pointing somewhere to the left of them.
Tori had always had trouble using her senses. She couldn't sense Reiatsu at all. Byakuya had been trying to train her, but it wasn't working. The sunset in the world of the living was beautiful. Tori sighed again, this time of memories.
-Flashback-
Tori ran as fast as she could, Byakuya right behind.
The large hollow was chasing them, and it was fast.
Tori nearly screamed when Byakuya turned around and screamed, "Run!" to her.
The small child high-tailed it, worried sick about Byakuya, and turned back herself. She grabbed a wooden sword from a bench, the owner right next to it. She ran towards the hollow, sword in hand. She lunged, and took a wild swipe down. The hollow was stunned, and she felt something grab her kimono.
She looked around to see Byakuya, a bloody gash on his side.
"Run..." he managed to say before passing out.
"No!" she screamed, and tried to drag him along, only to be caught in the back by the hollow.
"I... Will... Protect... You..." She stammered, then passing out on top of him.
-End of Flashback-
Tori grimaced at the memory of the large scar, still on her back, from that day.
She sheathed Nekomaru and turned around to face Byakuya. She meant what she said that day, even if he was a noble.
Byakuya had just had the same memory. He still knew that Tori had said something, but she wouldn't tell him what.
He was kind of ticked about that, even with his large control in emotion.
He nearly sighed himself, but then said, "Come on, Tori, we must go back."
"Why so serious?" she retorted.
"Because I was raised that way." He responded calmly.
Boom
Byakuya looked up from his paper work.
Tori... be quiet... he thought, returning to his work.
Tori swiped her zanpakuto at the target, her shekai slicing through it easily.
"Nice, Nekomaru." Tori whispered. Nekomaru was the cat dragon of fire, the only other fire element in the seireitei other than the head captain.
Tori's sea green eyes shone. Time for lunch.
