A Strange Request at a Piano Bar

Tori's POV: 21 years of age.

I can't believe I agreed to meet Trina at her new job. As I get down the street, I feel kind of awkward realizing it's a piano bar. It looks really high end, like one of those classy old movies from the 20's. How the hell did Trina ever get a job here?

As I awkwardly move closer to the door, my anxiety starts to kick in. That's when I hear a beautiful melody coming from inside. It's both sad and joyful at the same time. Almost as if it's a representation of someone's life. I get lost in the song as I survey the crowd.

That's when I see her. A girl with jet black hair and skin as white as snow. She's playing the piano, almost as if it was a part of her.

I make my way over to her, almost as if I'm drawn to her.

"I love your melody."

"Thank you. You're the first to compliment it so far. Would you believe I wrote it at a carnival?"

I start to giggle at the thought of her actually writing this beautiful amazing song at a festival

"why did you write it at a carnival?"

"Believe it or not, it's where I broke up with my boyfriend of four years. At the same time, it's where my mother told me that she accepted me for who I was."

"And who are you...?"

"I'm Jade... and I'm very very gay."

I smile and giggle again at the bluntness of her comment. It throws me for a loop.

"That's something we have in common."

"You went to the carnival?"

"No, the fact that I'm very very gay."

Jade let out an infectious laugh. Before I knew it, we were laughing and talking as if we were childhood friends.

I look back at the piano. It's beautiful. Almost charcoal colored.

Jade notices me staring.

"Would you like to play?"

"I've never played before..."

"Today's your lucky day."

My anxiety starts to kick in again.

"I'm not sure..."

Jade takes me by the hand and guides me to the piano.

"just follow my movements."

I watch her move her fingers around the keys like a ballerina owning the dance floor.

Before I know it, she's standing over me and moving my hands to mimic hers. It's the most surreal feeling I've ever felt. I'm playing my feelings out. All my fears and anxieties disappear and all I feel is happiness.

Suddenly she stops playing and everything goes quiet.

"I have a strange request... I know that's unusual since I'm a pianist. Pianists are usually the ones taking the requests."

"Oh, and what would that be?"

"Will you go to the carnival with me?"

I smile at her.
