Earth
The forest, vibrant green and alive once more after a deep winter, surrounds me. I take one step and then another down the winding path, her distant laughter drifting toward me on the breeze. The sole of my boot sinks a little into the dirt, soft and damp from recent spring rain.
It is in moments like these that I know I am grounded.
She says it was Fate that brought me here, and I find that her words are like the wind against a stone. It has taken time, but I find myself believing her, trusting her. She pulls me along on such fantastic journeys, darting here and there; like a leaf on the wind, I go where she takes me.
And I am a rock for her to lean on—although she doesn't ever like to admit she needs it. I am the humility to her pride. We are contradictions that had once been separated by time and trust, but we have always needed each other. I know that now.
The world is alive and beautiful, and everything is new. The wind whispers through the branches, rustling the leaves, and I hear her gentle laughter once more.
Smiling, I take another step closer to her.
