Teddy Potter

First Year

08/16/2009

My name is Ted Remus Potter. I am a first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. My dad is the chosen one, Harry Potter.

If I could change something in life, it would be that. I hate that my father is famous. My father is the most famous and loved wizard alive today, and because of that, I am treated differently for it. I hate how people at school know me as The Chosen One II. It's not very much fun to be treated like that. Teachers are starting to show favoritism towards me because they know my father. I hate how everyone knows my father. How am I supposed to know who wants to be friends for my personality and who just likes my heritage?

It stinks though, because all these people treat me differently for who my father is when seeing my father is rare. He's so caught up in paparazzi and in interviews around the world that he's hardly ever at home. Sometimes, I have to stay with my grandparents! Not that I'm complaining, of course. Grandma Weasley always makes me the sweetest deserts and knits me the warmest sweaters. Grandpa Weasley always tells me stories about the old days and his job at the Ministry. I love it when I hear stories of the first and second war. What is more pleasing to hear than stories of your father submit himself to death in order to spare the lives of others? I just hate that he's never around much to talk to me about those stories himself.

Don't get me wrong now, Professor Hopkins. I love my father very much. The only thing I hate about all this is his popularity, and how much I miss him with all the things he has going on. I love him, and I love my biological father, the one I've only heard stories about.

They say he was a werewolf, a real one. Not an animagus. I think that's awesome. He also taught the same position as you, Professor. He was a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher right here at Hogwarts! My father taught my godfather in school. Isn't that funny? Daddy says that he was a great teacher, taught him better than any other ones he's ever had, he says.

His name was Remus Lupin. He died a heroic death, shortly after my birth. He died fighting Lord Voldemort. I wish I'd met him, this mysterious man. He seems a great deal like me, to be honest. All the stories about him that I've heard make me proud of who I've come from, proud of the blood that runs through these veins. As long as this stays between us, Professor, I think I love the father I've never met more than the one that I have.

They say he was a fine man, a gentle and contained one. One day, I wish to be just like him. Daddy says that Remus taught him how to be strong, courageous, and wise. And now, I think Daddy's giving me those traits as well. One day, I'm going to be just like Remus, and one day I'll be able to meet him and maybe he'll grow to love me the same way I have him.

So, Professor Hopkins, to answer your question. If I could change one thing in life, as horrible as this may sound, I would ask for my father back. I would ask for Remus Lupin to come back to me, to raise me like one of his own.
