I ran through the forest faster than ever, running away from who knows what but it was chasing me and I couldn't get away. Vampires aren't supposed to get tired - they can run until the earth ends, but my legs got slower and slower until I could hear the ragged breathing behind me. I tried to speed up, but I heard it jump with all its might and sink its teeth into my side making me stumble and fall.
I saw the beast with its horrid odor standing over me ready to rip my head off if I moved. I looked into its dark eyes, studying what I saw there. I saw the creature's anger bubbling-about to explode. But as it looked into my eyes, I saw something change, confusion was apparent and uncertainness. Suddenly it picked me up with its gigantic mouth and began to run south.
After what felt like hours of being carried along like a sack of potatoes, the forest began thin out and I saw hints of sunlight. The animal slowed steadily until we were at the edge of the forest. It dropped me, but I didn't try to run because I knew it would be able to catch me. It lifted its head and howled into the sky; I was able to hear paws thumping on the ground in all directions except from the direction of the edge of the forest. They got closer and closer until seven or eight creatures were circling me, some looking at me with the hatred I had seen from the beast that captured me earlier and some with intrigue, but all with caution in there steps.
I couldn't begin to fathom of what the creatures might be that would want to hurt me so much. I didn't even know what I was let alone what hunted me.
All at the same time they stopped in a perfect circle with the same stance. A tall, dark man, whom I had not noticed before, stood beside a creature with dark brown-almost black fur.
"Who are you?" the man asked loudly.
"Nexli," I replied with my beautiful voice that sounded like bells.
"What are you?" he asked with no emotion showing on his face.
"I do not know," I answered, the uncertainty showing in my voice.
I heard growls emanating from the wolf-like monsters.
"What are you?" he said again, stepping closer, but with caution.
Instead of answering, I sat up a little and changed myself to look exactly like him.
He backed away again and some of the creatures crouched down some more ready to spring. The man looked over my head at the thing behind me and said, "Get Carlisle, Seth. You too Quil."
As they sprinted away, the man looked down at me. "Change yourself back. Stand up slowly and do not try to run."
I did as told and looked around carefully.
"What are they?" I asked wonderingly.
The man, who had begun to walk away, looked back and said, threateningly, "If you behave, you may learn in time."
He started to walk away again and I followed, vigilantly.
We walked for a time along the edge of the forest, but never close enough so people drive on the road beside the forest to see us.
I hadn't seen people for months as I ran across the country accompanied by my thoughts of what happened to me and why I was this way.
Walking through this forest surrounded by the creatures that apparently had an idea of what I was, I knew I had a huge adventure ahead of me.
