Things You Notice, Things You Don't

She thinks that you don't notice.

Her new short hair cut.

Her new blonde hair colour.

Her new blue contact lenses.

Her new graceless, but supposedly 'hot' clothes.

Her shameless flirting.

She thinks that you don't like her anymore.

She doesn't notice that you stopped pursuing her openly, childishly.

Her long hair, falling till her waist.

Her fiery red hair.

Her magical green eyes.

Her elegant, classy, graceful clothes.

Her poise, her maturity.

But you do notice.

Her haircut that doesn't distinguish her from the other girls.

Her blonde hair that looks unnatural on her, superficial.

Her blue eyes that look dull compared to her real ones.

Her trashy style of dressing like the other girls.

Her silly new way of throwing herself at other boys, trying to get their attention even while all you can see is her.

She doesn't talk to you anymore.

Or laugh at your jokes.

Or smile at you shyly.

Or schedule patrols with you.

Or watch you play Quidditch.

Or glance at you, blushing.

She's changed.

She seems happy to be the way she is now.

But she isn't.

Not really.

You can see the despair in her eyes.

The reluctance to act the way she does now.

The disgust at her actions.

You wish that she would let you speak to her.

You wish that she'd allow you to explain why you stopped chasing her.

You wish that she'd permit you to tell her that you didn't want to scare her off now that the two of you had a growing friendship.

You wish she'd grow her hair out.

You wish that she'd get rid of that ridiculous blonde hair.

You wish that she'd stop obscuring those perfect green eyes with those useless blue lenses.

You wish that she'd revert to her old wardrobe.

You wish that she'd stop acting like she had no morals.

Yet, you curse yourself.

It is, after all, your fault that she did this.

To get your attention.

So that you'd notice her.

But what she didn't notice was that you noticed every single little, seemingly insignificant detail of her existence.

You wish that she'd notice that you notice theses changes in her.

You wish that she'd notice that you missed the old her, the real her.

You wish that she'd notice that you lover her for who she is and not what she looks like.

It just helps that she's exquisitely, breathtakingly, devastatingly beautiful.

You vow that you'll get her to notice your love for her, your respect, your admiration for her.

You vow that you'll get her to notice that you love the real her.

She will notice, how can she not; now that you've promised yourself to get Lily Evans to notice your love.

Author's Note: I don't quite know what my feelings regarding this piece are. I don't think that Lily would change herself so drastically for a boy. She was a strong, powerful, confident woman.

But what do you think?

I've also got two other one-shots up. I'd appreciate it if you Read and Reviewed them too!

Rose Weasley: Hogwarts Head Girl Chapter 3 went up yesterday. Any thoughts?
