"Will you be alright, mommy?" AJ whimpers.
Clementine nodded and patted the eight-year old's head. "I'll be fine," she says, coughing up a small amount of blood. Her vision goes blurry for a minute. She fumbles for her gun and hands it to AJ.
She smiles. "Mommy has to take her medicine. Just put the long bit against my head and pull the little knob, k?" she says.
AJ shook his head. "No, I don't wanna. This is the thing that hurts people."
Clementine pulls him into a hug. "I don't want to become a monster. Do Mommy a favor and pull it, okay? My arms hurt," she whispered.
AJ sniffles. "I don't wanna! We can go somewhere else, somewhere safe!"
"Go south, back to Wellington. They might let you in, they just might."
AJ's lip trembled. "No! I don't wanna go!"
Clementine slowly pulled the gun off of him. "Just remember, AJ, you're smarter than the monsters, you can keep going. Just find a group and you'll be fine. You deserve to have a safe life, to be happy," she says, putting the gun against her head.
AJ backed away. "Don't... Please!"
Clem had a vision of all the people who she had loved. Mom and Dad... Kenny... Ben... Omid... Sarah... Lee...
She sobbed, the bite on her arm not even painful anymore, just a mocking taunt of what it had robbed her of. "I'm sorry AJ," she whispered. "Be safe," she choked out, pulling the trigger.
As the lights grew dim, Clementine saw Lee and her parents standing over her. She was dead before she hit the ground.
