Arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her close to her aqua-haired lover. Haruka smiled, and closed her eyes as the arms drew small circles on her exposed stomach. She felt Michiru dip her head and kiss the top of her blonde hair.
"You shouldn't be here." Haruka whispered, even though she wouldn't have let Michiru leave even if the other girl wanted to. Michiru's free hand moved higher, to rub Haruka's neck.
"Shh. No talking, 'Ruka." Haruka hummed in contentment as Michiru knew exactly where to touch to calm Haruka down. A kiss was placed on her neck, as she opened her eyes, and turned herself over so that she was face to face with Michiru on the hospital bed. "You shouldn't be moving." Michiru said with concern.
"It's just a broken arm, Michi." But, Michiru shook her head.
"No, 'Ruka, it was so much worse. There was.. so much blood. I-I thought-" Haruka shook her head.
"Shh, Michi. I'm okay. I promise. We've had worse. Dying, is worse." Michiru looked at her in horror.
"Don't say stuff like that, Haruka. I've died for you once, and I'm willing to do it again." Haruka bit her lip, and turned away.
"I remember you dying, for me. Do not do that again, Michiru. You have no idea how scared I was. I didn't care that you had a talisman. I didn't care that it was our mission." Tears glistened in the Sky Senshi's eyes. "All I cared about, was that my soul was running straight into danger! My soul was.. willingly putting herself in danger." Michiru stared into her eyes, shock in her face, and tears rolling down her cheeks.
"'Ruka.."
"Do not ask me, to experience that again. Please?" Michiru didn't say anything. No words needed to be said. Instead, she buried her face in Haruka's neck. Sobbing into her. Haruka's good arm rubbed her back, soothingly as she sobbed into Michiru's hair. Neither knew how their conversation had turned from trying to assure the other that they were fine, to being afraid of death. Maybe it was the fact that neither had ever been afraid of dying. They faced everything as another adventure, and death was the biggest adventure of all.
"How did it get so messed up?" Haruka said. They had cried for ten minutes, and now they were just reduced to sniffling. Michiru's head rested on Haruka's chest, rising and falling as the blonde breathed.
"What do you mean?" Michiru played with the sleeve of Haruka's hospital gown.
"We were supposed to just.. find the talismans, and be on our way. But, somewhere along the way.. we fell in love." Michiru lifted her head, and pressed her lips against Haruka's.
"Destiny? I don't know. All I know, is that I love you, Haruka. I love you." She kissed her again.
"I love you too, Michiru. More than words can describe." Michiru smiled and rested her head back on Haruka's chest. "When this is over. When we win, come away with me. Let's see everything. Go on, one of those long romantic trips or something." Haruka laughed, and Michiru had to laugh as well.
"Anything for you, 'Ruka." Haruka held her tighter and kissed the top of her head, before they both drifted off to sleep. Two souls in two separate bodies than the ones they were meant to be in. Or, was it one soul sharing two bodies? They were intertwined, eternally and they knew it.
