Thief

"I can save you. All you have to do is let me kill you."

Insane, right? That's exactly what I'm thinking. By the laws of everything natural and scientific; by every principle ever created and every unholy fusion, that sentence should never be uttered. Ever. It just beckons catastrophe.

Then again, upon thinking that, catastrophe and my family are like the north and south pole of two adjacent magnets. They always attract. Although that's not necessarily a bad thing. I mean, thinking about it logically, we've always been prepared for the worst scenario that could possibly occur. We've been trained, we know the rules (the dos and don'ts, if you like), and we know the circumstances. There's always that risk, that chance that things could go wrong, and with three clumsy, rash, hyperactive brothers, there are bound to be mistakes. I've calculated this.

But even calculations can be…tricky, shall we say? There's always room for human (should this be turtle?) error. And even those errors can be incorrect from time to time. But it's all about taking into account the facts, the prior proceedings, and the pending aftermath. Without that, I suppose the statement above would seem ludicrous, completely insane, and ridiculously absurd. I understand that. But you haven't looked at the evidence. Without that you can't comprehend the sincerity of that statement.

I suppose the only logical way to explain the situation is to backtrack to the earliest stages of the process. The speaker, the timeframe, the environment and the exact details are all irrelevant to how this began. Let's just say I was unhappy. We can build our way up from there.

Sixteen days ago was when this flawless fiasco began.

It started out as any other normal day…and I think that was the problem, really.
