AN: This is a one-shot I wrote literally 15 minutes ago, so it's completely un-betaed, I was so happy I broke through my writer's block, I had to post it. It's inspired by the musical Wicked, which I haven't seen, but desperately want to, so any inconsistencies between the show and my story are my fault, so please excuse me for that. Anyways, enough rambling, on with the story...
Wicked
"Come on, Dan, hurry up!" Lindsay shouted as she pulled a reluctant Danny through the crowded sheets of New York City. "Come on, it'll be fun!" she squealed excitedly, and Danny had to admire the childlike quality Lindsay seemed to be exhibiting.
"Fun or you, maybe; torture for me." Danny muttered. Lindsay whirled round, sending him a glare.
"What was that, Dan?" Lindsay asked, even though she had heard every word.
"Nothing, honey," Danny said, plastering on a fake smile. They waltzed up to the ticket office, purchased their tickets and snacks, and rushed in to take their seats, just as the lights dimmed. Danny slung his arm across Lindsay's shoulders and pulled her close. A woman dressed in a witch's costume flew onto the stage, straddling a broomstick and proceeded to belt out an amazing rendition of 'Defying Gravity.' Danny saw Lindsay's eyes light up as the woman screeched out a high note that made Danny cringe. She seemed captivated by the show she must have seen a few hundred times since it's opening in 2003. Danny was content to watch the light in her eyes dance as they followed the figures on the stage. Danny could hear her angelic voice softly singing along and he smiled. He pulled her closer and she happily snuggled into his chest, resting her cheek over his heart. He placed his chin on her head, inhaling the sweet aroma of her lavender shampoo.
As the witch finished her ballad, the crowd erupted in applause, including Lindsay, who had suddenly sat up, startling Danny, and was cheering and whistling. Danny just watched in amusement.
The show let an hour or so later. Danny and Lindsay left the theatre hand-in-hand, walking into the crisp New York air. Deciding against hailing a cab due to the current citywide panic, they took a leisurely stroll towards Danny's apartment. Lindsay shivered as the cool wind whipped round her. Danny shrugged off his jacket and wrapped it round her shoulders; the kind gesture immediately sending warmth through her body. Lindsay flashed him an appreciative smile and leaned into him, allowing him to wrap his arm tightly round her. They walked down the bustling streets in silence, content just to enjoy each other's company.
"Did you enjoy the show?" Lindsay asked a few minutes later.
"Not exactly my thing, Montana... but I could see how much it pleased you..." Lindsay smiled. She was so happy that she had found a guy who would sit through a musical just to make her happy. She pulled on Danny's hand, which was enveloping her smaller one, forcing him to come to a halt beside her, and turn to face her, a confused expression plaguing his handsome features. Lindsay placed her hand on the back of his head and pulled his lips to hers in a sweet, gentle kiss. A few seconds later, she pulled away, a beaming grin across her porcelain face, which Danny matched with his trademark smirk. "I love you, Lindsay," he whispered, resting his forehead on hers.
"I love you too, Danny." She kissed the tip of his nose, causing him to let out a soft laugh. She stared into the blue depths of his eyes, and felt herself drowning. The distant clash of thunder snapped them both back to reality. Danny took her hand in his larger mitt, and said, "Come on, Montana, let's go home." With that, they headed towards where Lindsay now considered home with the only guy ever to capture her heart.
AN: Please review, they make me feel special! :)
