The water lapped gently against the shore, the sunlight dancing upon it. The breeze was pleasantly warm, and all was silent at La Push beach. Until a certain Jacob Black roared up in the Rabbit, slammed the car door shut, and stomped to the edge of the water, swearing under his breath.

The Cullen's had gotten around the treaty. And no matter how much Jake snarled, growled, and threatened, nothing was going to change it. Jacob sat in the warm sand and tilted his scowling face up to glare at the cloudless sky. He wanted a storm. Wanted the thunder to roll, the lighting to clash, and the wind to scream. That would certainly fit his mood better than all this sunshine.

It didn't matter anyway, rain or shine, Isabella Swan was to become a vampire, a cold one. Or in other words, his worst enemy. To the pack, she was a lost cause, a traitor they would have already forgotten her if not for Jacob. To Jacob, she was a light in the dark, a best friend, a girl he would always love. He would find someone else in time, he knew that, but a part of his heart would always be Bella's.

He had to forget her now, lock her up in his memory for a time so he could focus on the pack. The red-haired leech was still on the prowl. He had to stop moping around, pouting like a three year old that didn't get his way. He stood up, wiped his palms on his faded, worn out jeans, and turned to his car. There, parked beside it, was an empty silver Volvo. He immediately tensed. Why hadn't he heard it? And the he smelt it. Vampire. He whirled around and stared into blood red eyes.

She was so beautiful it hurt to look at her. Snow white skin glittered like diamonds, her face sculpted and perfect. Her features had become for enhanced, more define, more elegant. A total stranger had replaced the girl he loved. But the voice that came out of those perfectly shaped lips was heartbreakingly familiar. She spoke two words.

"You promised."

Jacob looked at the glittering hand that was offered to him, and made his decision. He now understood why Bella was with the vampires, why she had to easily accepted him and the pack. It didn't matter. Didn't matter that Bella drank blood instead of ate, that she was now as strong as him, that he had sworn to kill all her kind. She was still Bella, his best friend, his secret keeper, his love. It didn't matter that she would never leave Edward. She was his Bella and he had made a promise to her that he fully intended to keep. His hand joined hers.

Tan to pale. Hot to cold. Brother to sister.

A/N note: I know Bella's not allowed in La Push, but I don't think Jacob's gonna tell:) And yes, Bella drove Edward's car. By herself. And she went over the speed limit, too. Shock And for those of you wondering why Bella didnt lose control and drain Jacob's blood, Jacob doesnt smell very good to her at all. Werewolves smell like icky wet dogs to vampires. And hey, it's fiction, anything can happen.
