Summary: There's always a catch to every decision.
As stubborn as ever she rushed straight into the decision despite what all of her crew felt. She had made the decision which stranded her crew in the Delta Quadrant. It became her crusade to bring them home as quickly as possible.
It was this spirit which led to her most fateful decision. The fastest way home was through Borg territory. She held a valuable weapon to defeat their enemy. Without human help the Borg would be defeated by the invaders from fluidic space.
She would listen to her officers and crew who counseled against her decision to help the Borg. Humanity and the Delta Quadrant had suffered so much from the Borg. She should have consigned them to the dust bin of history.
Instead, she saved the Borg from extinction by providing a weapon to defeat their enemies. If she had looked beyond the end of her nose she would have seen that the Borg had invaded fluidic space. She was aiding the invaders. The enemies of mankind.
Why? Just to get home a few years sooner, she condemned scores of races to assimilation, nearly caused a war between Fluidic space and the Federation, and nearly allowed the Borg to conquer the human race.
Her name became synonymous with a short-sighted person who blindly pursues a short term goal out of guilt ignoring the long range consequences of their actions. She had in the end committed a Janeway and she was hated throughout the Delta Quadrant because of her decision.
