Morncreek's 2008 A/N: This poem does not appear as it originally did when I posted it five years ago. FFN, it seems, has retroactively applied its newest formatting restrictions (along with its older ones) instead of "grandfathering" such things as it did previously. I have circumvented the restrictions as much as I am able to, but I fear I have traded one ugly thing for another. As Clarification: the Japanese I know is very basic. What you see here is probably grammatically incorrect in some way.

Cherry Tree's Blossoms
written 22 December 2003

Sakura no Hikari
Kawaii desu ne (ka)
Demo...

... ... ... ... (Light's cherry blossoms
... ... ... ... are cute, isn't that so?
... ... ... ... But...)

There is more –
A depth of love, of sadness
Scenes of peace and of darkest anguish.

The leaves reflect pleasure, pain;
And blossoming heart, another mystery;
And the tree either grows, withers
life given and life taken
All birthing the consequences of actions long ago.

Looking over this, I consider it one of my best ones. I wanted to encapsulate all the meanings sakura has as a tribute to anime. (In anime, sakura is often used to convey or enhance emotions of a particular scene.) I believe I accomplished that goal.
