"How did you do that?" Mel asks, staring wide-eyed at the little red rose in the palm of Erik's hand. Erik chuckles, smirking at her reaction. He loves how she reacts to the smallest of tricks. He doesn't even have to put in a real effort to amuse her, and he finds it endearing.
"A magician never reveals his secrets," Erik teases, making the rose disappear again with a seemingly simple hand movement. Mel pouts, giving him her most adorable puppy dog-eyes. Erik fights with himself for a moment, knowing that he can't resist that look, but also knowing that his 'simple trick' days will be over if he does tell her. Sighing heavily, Erik gives in to her pleading eyes. She's worth losing a few simple tricks for, Erik thinks kindly. Mel grins, knowing she's gotten her way again.
"How'd you do it?" she asks excitedly.
"The trick will be completely ruined if I tell you," Erik warns. Mel frowns.
"I don't care. I just want to know! Besides, you know way more tricks than just that one," Mel reasons. Erik nods and reaches inside a previously invisible flap of his waistcoat. Mel frowns, not having noticed it at all and wondering how she missed it.
"That's it?"
"I told you it would ruin the trick for you," Erik replies, now holding the rose in his hand again.
"A pocket?" Mel asks incredulously. Erik chuckles.
"A pocket."
