We knew it would happen, everyone did. Everyone talked about it, the states rebelling, skilling the government, defeating dc. We have watched movies about it, learned about it in school, but now, when I Lily Cox is 15 years old, I am living it. Just then, as i was thinking about everything i wanted to do yet when i heard it. A non-familiar but recognizable sound. 1,2,3...6,7... that's it, 6 bombs just fell in my neighborhood. Then the terrified chattering of my family stops, the world goes black, and there is a extreme amount of pressure on my chest which is making it impossible for me to breathe. Then I black out, i feel nothing, I see nothing, my world is even darker than before but I'm in no pain.
When I wake up again I'm in a familiar bed, in a familiar house, but its not mine. My mind immediately turns to my little sister Amy. I imagine her crawling into bed with me when she had a nightmare, then curling up next to me like a hedgehog and falling asleep. Now i get it, I m in Alexander's house. I sit up so quickly I get dizzy. Once I gather myself the full realization of what happens hits me like a punch in the stomach. My house, and my entire family was hit by a bomb.
Why us? What did we ever do? I immediately start screaming in hopes that someone will come to my rescue, someone will bring me my mom and little sister. "AMY! MOM! AMY! WHERE ARE YOU?" Just then Alexander comes running into the room like i was dying or something and clamps his hand over my mouth.
"Lily, calm down. Your mom and Amy are fine, but they are asleep and in a lot of pain and they don't need to feel it. I ve been playing doctor for your entire family for who knows how long, i'm glad to see you're awake." Pain, the words rang in my ears, then all the sudden i get an overwhelming burning sensation on my forehead. I reach my hand up to touch it but Alexander's hand leaves my mouth and grabs my wrist.
"Ow that hurts!" Alexander released his hand from my wrist and kissed my hand.
"Sorry babe, but while you were sleeping you kept trying to take the bandages off your head, i ended up having to stay in here for a while when you were sleeping because you were having a nightmare or something and you were thrashing and trying to rip off bandages." As soon as he finishes a beep goes off and creates an echo in the room. A very unfamiliar and kind of scary voice comes out of nowhere.
"Attention people of Panem..." Panem? What in the world is that?
"Every citizen must gather in capitol square at 4 p.m. SHARP!" Another beep signaled the end of the message.
Alex...? Yeah Lily? How long have I been asleep?
