Hi everyone! I am back with more poetry! This one is Haymitch pondering over his games and of his life afterwards. It sometimes takes me a while to write poetry because I have to be inspired! Then, the poem basically writes itself! When I force it, it comes out really bad lol! I know it's not perfect as far as rhyming and structure go, but I'm not perfect so that's all I can say! Anyhow, without any more interruptions, here we go!
Why did they want me?
Why did they care?
Why did they leave me,
Lost in my despair?
Why was I picked?
Why me to start?
Why did I have to
Leave all my heart?
Why is my future?
Suddenly gone?
Why must I leave?
To become a game pawn?
Why these children?
Why is it us?
Why must we die?
With the whole world to watch?
Why did I go?
Without even a fight?
Why leave my family?
Lost from all sight?
Why did I have to?
Give all my best?
To the traitorous capital?
Who's evil won't rest?
Why did I fight?
To keep myself alive?
Why didn't I just,
die on the inside?
Why did I try?
To keep her to me?
She just died anyway
Her heart bleeding free.
Why did I figure out?
The trick to the game?
Why did I win?
With my own trick to blame?
Why did they kill?
All who I cared?
Why was I left?
Alone to be scared?
Why was I forced?
To live through the night?
Fighting off nightmares?
With no love in sight?
Why did I fall?
Into alcohols demand?
Why do I sleep?
With a knife in my hand?
Why do I watch?
As these children I train
To face their deaths bravely
All those children I've slain
Why am I left?
With no one to care?
With no to hold?
With no one to share?
Why does the capital?
Fill our lives with hate?
Someday, one will come
Though I hope they're not late
The capital will fall
And I will play part
Maybe then someone will come
And mend my broken heart
I hope you all liked it! If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions for me, please let me know! Also, please leave a review! It makes me happy to know that you are reading my stories and it inspires me to write more! I hope you enjoyed and see ya'll around!
