Just the way how I think that Tonks and Remus died.

Forever

'Dora! What the hell are you doing here?!', Remus shouted as he saw his wife running down the marble stairs to join the fight. Terror overcame him, as the thought of her getting hurt came into his mind.

'What ya think I'm doing!', she yelled back, ducked and shot a few curses at a deatheater.

Remus gave up his fight with Greyback to get closer to her. Finishing off Mulciber he grabbed the struggling Tonks and dragged her away from the fight into a broom closet.

'You should be at your Mom's with Teddy!', he growled.

'I was there! But I couldn't stand the thought of-'

'I can't stand the thought of you risking your life while our baby needs you at home!'

'My Mom is perfectly capable of handling Teddy! And I'm perfectly capable of fighting! In a fight you need a partner! That's what Mad-Eye always taught me! When he died he didn't have a partner!', Tonks screamed, her hair alarming red.

Remus thought for a second, then slowly shook his head. He hugged her close to him.

'Promise me to go home when it gets to bad?', he asked softly.

Tonks nodded, thinking of her baby and kissed him.

'I will.'

And together they rejoined the fight.

Half an hour later Tonks jumped into the air and yelled happily. Her hair bright pink. She and Remus had been tracking two deatheaters practically through the whole castle and finally they were dead. Remus laughed and grabbed her hand. They ran back to the Great Hall, where screams could still be heard, as fast as possible.

But rounding the next corner Alecto caught them off guard and hit both of them straight across the chest with a Sectumsempra.

As if in slow-motion Remus saw his and Tonks' wand fly out of a broken window and Tonks fall down beside him. He's knees buckled and he crashed to the floor right next to her.

Only seconds later they both lay in a pool of scarlet blood. Both knowing that there was no way to escape this fate.

Slowly Remus moved closer to his wife. She looked up at him and with his help managed to sit up. Remus leaned both of them against a wall.

'So this is the end?'

Tonks nodded, pressing a hand to her wound.

'Do you ... have a piece of paper?'

Remus looked at her surprised, then pulled a photo of him, Tonks and Teddy out of his pocket.

'O-only this picture', he whispered.

Tonks closed her eyes for a moment.

'That's just perfect. Give it to me, love.'

But she didn't look at it. She turned it and seemed to be concentrating hard, which made her even look paler and her hair loose all it's color.

'We'll always love you, Teddy! Mum & ' appeared on the white surface only a second later. Tonks was totally exhausted.

But Remus understood.

He felt the pain double with his efforts, but a 'Dad' appeared there, too.

Tonks smiled sadly. 'Our poor baby.'

The blood drenched their clothes and when Remus tried to speak he barely had the strength to do so.

'I-I love you, my Dora.'

'I love you, Remus!', and a tiny tear slipped down her death pale cheek.

Remus kissed it away, then with his last strength he pulled her into his lap.

'I think I did the wrong vow', he confessed quietly. 'It's not 'till dead do us apart. It's forever!'

'Forever!', Tonks whispered and for the last time on earth their lips touched.

Remus kept kissing his Dora though he felt her go limp in his arms and morph into her natural form. Looking just as beautiful as on the day they married.

Remus kept kissing her though he felt the darkness creep into his mind.

Kissing the love of his life and thinking of his little son, that's how his life ended.
