Thirteen year-old Caitlyn Gellar sat on the dock overlooking the lake at Camp Rock, mixing a beat on her laptop. Caitlyn always mixed when she was depressed to take her mind off things.

This time, it was her parents. Again. They had called her house from the cruise ship yesterday, asking for c. her grandma, who was staying at the house, reminded them that Caitlyn had cone to Camp Rock. Her parents were shocked. They had forgotten! How could the Gellar's have forgotten they sent their daughter away for the entire summer?

Actually, Caitlyn was not too surprised. They had forgotten her before, starting at age four, when she was left at daycare for three hours after the other kids went home. It got worse after that, and Caitlyn never ceased to be depressed.

As Caitlyn stared over the smooth blue lake, she heard footsteps behind her, and turned to see her best friends, Lola and Ella.

"OMG! Connect 3 is here!" Ella squealed.

"Oh boy. Connect 3," Caitlyn sighed. She didn't really like the band's pop music. Btu, since they were doing a concert here at camp, Caitlyn would have to go.

"Oh, come on, Caitlyn!" Lola cried. "I know they aren't your favorite, but they are such great performers!"

"All right. Let's get this over with."

As they watched Connect 3 perform their new single "Mandy", Caitlyn surveyed the band members. Jason was the oldest, and known for being a little spacey at times. Shane, the middle one, was the band's heartthrob. And Nate, the youngest…

"Wow! Who is that and what happened to Nate?" Caitlyn cried.

"Um, that is Nate," said Lola. "Why? Do you like him or something?"

"No!" Caitlyn defended herself. "He just looks…different. That's all." He's not too bad looking for a popstar, Caitlyn thought to herself.
