Prologue - The Battle of Gallifrey

Featuring the Alternate 1st Doctor, Susan and the Master

Gallifrey, a very long time ago...

The Doctor and Susan hurried through the corridors of the Gallifreyan citadel, frantically trying to get to the TARDIS workshop, where they knew that there would be a TARDIS to steal.
In his first incarnation, the Doctor was an old man, with rather long white hair and very ancient eyes. He wore a black jacket, a grey waistcoat and a white shirt. Susan, on the other hand, was a much younger woman, with black hair and who wore a grey jumper.
"Grandfather, are we going to make it?" she asked, nervously sprinting after him.
"Yes, Susan, we should hopefully make it just in time!" he replied, just as two Daleks emerged in front of them: they were tall, metallic grey machines which had mutants at their heart, operating them. Their eyestalks examined them thoroughly, and they had their gunsticks pointed at them, so they weren't going to escape very easily.
"DO NOT MOVE!" one of the Daleks ordered, advancing towards them.
"What do you want? We are innocent, only fleeing from this world." the Doctor said, in his most innocent tone of voice.
"YOU ARE TIME LORDS! YOU ARE OUR ENEMY! YOU WILL BE EXTERMINATED!"
And then, they opened fire on Susan: several bolts of blue hit her, making her collapse to the floor and lie there, dead. The Doctor stared at the body of his granddaughter, tears dribbling down his cheeks, his hand outstretched, as if she could be saved. But she couldn't.
"YOU WILL BE EXTERMINATED!"
Not wanting to suffer the same fate as his granddaughter, the Doctor turned and ran off down a corridor, away from the two Daleks. However, one of the Daleks' blasts hit him as he ran, making his hands and face glow with a golden light.

Now away from the Daleks, the Doctor was now in the TARDIS workshop, which had, rather luckily, been abandoned ever since the battle of Gallifrey had begun.
Seven different TARDISes were left in the workshop, all of them Type 40s, and he now had the simple task of choosing one of them to run away in. He examined each one in turn, before selecting a TARDIS that he felt was just right for him.
"Hello, old girl..." he mumbled to himself, as he entered the large white console room and activated the dematerialisation control, making the space-time ship wheeze and groan itself out of existance.
Once the TARDIS had materialised in the Time Vortex, the Doctor collapsed and the regeneration process began, golden energy engulfing his head and hands, as he became a completely different man...

Whilst the Doctor was escaping, the Master was trapped on the other side of Gallifrey, near to the TARDIS bays. The TARDIS bays were where functional TARDISes were kept, which gave him an idea of how he could escape.
He was a middle-aged man, with black hair and a grey beard, as well as black sideburns and was dressed, as he had recently been in Victorian London, in a smart black suit, with a rather fitting pair of black shoes.

Currently, he was facing off against two Daleks with only one laser screwdriver to defend himself with.
"So then, gentlemen, are we going to talk about this, or are we going to fight?" he asked, with his most charming voice.
"WE DO NOT TALK! YOU SHALL BE EXTERMINATED!"
"Are you sure?"
There was one ability that the Master had that the Doctor could never have: criminally perfect timing. Because, at the precise moment when the Daleks fired at him, he activated his teleport watch, and teleported straight to the TARDIS bays, leaving the Daleks confused and astounded.

In the TARDIS bays, the Master found a TARDIS rather rapidly, entered it and took off, desperately wanting to get away from Gallifrey, so that he could live on.
Most Gallifreyans would have been against the Doctor's and the Master's decisions, but, in a few moments, they would probably change their mind.

As the Master's TARDIS whooshed through the Time Vortex, the Master was watching a video feed of Gallifrey, which showed the planet from space. Dozens and dozens of Dalek ships were firing at the planet, and, as far as the Master was concerned, he was the only one to escape.
The feed continued to show relentless Dalek ships firing at the planet, until, about five minutes later, the planet exploded, wiping out a few Dalek ships whilst the majority of Dalek ships teleported away.
The Master watched, with a tear forming in his eye, as his home planet became dust, floating through space.
