"the way I am" –ingrid michaelson

[/]

people think derrick harrington is heartless, spoiled, and shallow.
only half of that is true.

because she's all broken pieces of shattered glasses, remains scattered all around the cold, marble floors. she swears on the remains of her life that there are pieces and parts that are simply not meant to work.

because he's all chiseled jaw, wispy mops of brown hair, strung in front of his beautiful light blue irises. he knows the control and power he has glowing against the very tips of his fingers and he loves the reactions he triggers when he steers out of her line of sight.

because she's got the young heart of a thirteen year old, the smile that lights up the whole world, the unbroken whole that has never been tainted with his miserable game, the respect from the elders and the innocence of a little girl.

because games are what he plays and losing just isn't his style. his charisma appears to just do the trick—but she can see right through his pretty-boy dark-coal black lashes.

because she's so broken and forlorn and weak, he loves the power that is leftover for him to puppeteer. she's so damn weak that cheating is simply part of the-usual.

because blonde-ringlet-tips kiss his face when she reaches over for a pen he swiped from her and he can't help but inhale the sweet smell of summer—peaches and the leftover remains of summer sun-kissed tanned skin.

because her kisses are feverish and anything but gentle.

because he can't even get the time of day out of this blonde enigmatic energetic girl.

because she carries herself with her head held high, good posture, and strides with her mile-long-legs and saunters through the hallways even though she's cracking like the china-dolls your little cousin collects.

because she doesn't want the attention, the reputations, the dispute, the fights, the heartbreak, the strings attached. she just simply wants to have fun while she can.

because she just wants so much more than he is willing to give, she wants his entire heart, soul, mind, and body. she wants the commitment that he just doesn't believe he can give.

but he'll give up anything, anything for a kiss from the blonde goddess who seeks empty lunch tables and quiet libraries to read her latest novels.

because derrick harrington doesn't want the queen-bee who flaunts everything she has, continuously fights fire with his fire, shakes his faith, breaks his heart, causes him to retaliate with even more malice. he doesn't want to swirl under the blindingly bright lights with all eyes of them, he doesn't want to kiss her feverishly, desperately, and consecutively, he doesn't want to put on a show that doesn't even exist. he doesn't want to stare into specked amber cat-like orbs. derrick harrington blatantly doesn't want massie block.

because he wants to gaze into beautiful, endless, stars of blues. because derrick harrington always finds himself staring into empty crowds at loud, prestigious events, searching the wild bodies of his fellow peers, hoping to run into a beautiful, flighty blonde claire lyons.

because claire lyons makes derrick harrington's fading heart beat a few seconds quicker and massie block just can't do that—even with all the money her rich family owns.

I wrote this in the favor of Cela Fille (Haritha) because she's obsessed with DerrickXClaire
