Percy peeked out from under the table, noticing his mom rapidly twirling a whisk into a bowl of cookie dough; singing under her breath, she reached for the new bottle of blue food coloring and squeezed in a healthy amount.

The six year-old licked his lips. They'll be mine, soon enough. Fingers tapping against the wooden leg of the table, he tried to contain his excitement.

The thumps turned into a discreet rhythm, and Percy kind of got distracted, knocking on the wood and flicking it to see what kind of sound it would make. Getting lost in his music, Percy almost overlooked the moment when his mom stopped singing.

His fingers froze, and his whole body froze, not making a single noise. He heard footsteps come into range and saw flip flops underneath the edge of the blue checkered cloth; he held his breath and covered his eyes with his hands.

Sally crouched down and lifted the cloth, seeing her son hiding his eyes and completely still. She stayed there for a few more moments, raising an eyebrow at him. Percy slowly pulled his fingers apart, looking through them, before shutting them real quick with a slight grin on his face.

Sally smiled at Percy's antics. "Well," she started, "Percy isn't down here. I wonder where he could be…" she glanced over to the right, looking at Percy's reaction out of the corner of her eye. He was shaking and the grin on his face had grown to a full, blown out smile.

"I guess he won't be able to lick the batter if-"

"NO, MOM! I'M RIGHT HERE, SEE?" Percy tackled his mother for a hug; Sally laughed and hugged him back.

"Yes, yes you are here," she tapped him on the nose.

"Can I have some of the batter now?" he said with a toothy grin.

Three minutes later, Sally found her son laying on the couch, moaning about his tummy while eating the batter at the same time.

Percy immediately dove to the floor and started crawling to the table, hiding under it. He had seen his mother prepare her legendary blue cookies, and he couldn't wait to have one. Well, more like all of them.

Operation Cookie Caper begin!

Licking his lips, he started to crawl out of the table, and went to hide behind the couch instead; he popped out the couch, looked right and left, and started to do a sort of half squat-walk towards the kitchen, until he saw his mother staring at him with an indescribable expression.

He blinked and slowly squat-walked backward, hiding behind the couch once more.

"Honestly, Percy, you're sixteen." Some shuffling was heard before Percy said, "And?"

Sally sighed and rubbed her temples. "You don't have to sneak around to get some cookies."

"…Really?" Percy popped back out of the couch, black hair falling into his wide eyes.

"Yes, really!"

"So I can just get up right now, and go get a cookie."

"Yes."

"Like right now."

"You'd think that a demigod like yourself would have more… stealth."

Percy ignored her comment. "I don't have to-"

"For the love of the gods, Percy! Just go get a cookie!"

"Okay, mom, if you say so," Percy teased with a goofy grin; he ran into the kitchen and grabbed the whole plate, walking back to his room. "Thanks for the cookies!" he yelled before shutting the door.
