Burn

Screaming sirens in the distance, coming closer and closer as they quickly speed to the grim scene. Crowds, a large quantity clad in pajamas, that gathered became deafly silent as the speeding red fire truck came into view from about a block away. I also stood in awe at the view before me. My curious eyes, clear and wide, couldn't tare away from the devastating moment. My neighbors' house resembled a forest fire.

Adrenalin pumped through my veins like a speeding train as the red, orange, and yellow flames engulfed the crystal clear sky. My arms hung at my sides like a heavy rope, my feet glued to the cement. Moving from the spot was impossible. The air around the house slowly started to turn a jet black from the cotton candy like smoke that emited from the once safe haven.

It felt as if an eternity passed, everything moved in slow motion, when in real life only seconds passed until the firemen reached the flame engulfed home. Once I realized that the firemen arrived, everything became fast paced. I could see four glwoing firemen move quickly to the side of the truck that contained the hose, neatly wrapped inside like a sleeping snake. They pulled it out quickly and ran towards the burning home, water drowning the hungry flames. I saw two of them run towards the owners of the home, uninjured and standing on my lawn watching everything they owned burn to nothing but ash. I could see the two firemen start to question them, I didn't hear much of anything I only saw a slight unsure nod from the perplexed sapphire eyed woman. The pale faced husband didn't even blink as his eyes fixated on savage shades of red. After the firemen received the information needed they proceeded to aid the others in putting out the flames. Everything was lost nothing could be brought back.

It took the firemen close to an hour to completely kill the flames. During that time I couldn't bring myself to leave until the fire died out. Something held me there like a magnet to a fridge. The experience will forever be engraved into my memory like a picture that captures a moment in time for eternity, always clear and genuine.
