Knock.

Knock.

Sai breathes, puts his charcoal down, rubs his blackened hands on his equally shaded clothing, before strolling towards the door, he opens it, and on the other side is his female teammate, Haruno Sakura - in her arms a ball of something he thinks is fur.

He steps aside and allows her an in, she looks around, "Naruto isn't here?" She purses her lips, "he was the one who wanted to play poker!"

Sai remains silent, choosing to nod.

She rolls her eyes, typical Naruto, falling from her mouth in a low mutter. She shakes her head, but seems to turn her attentions to the multi-coloured fur in her arms, "I guess it's you and me, Aya-chan." She pets it's coat lovingly, baby noises and the like tumbling from her small mouth. It's purring catches his attention.

Sai blinks, "Is that a cat?"

Sakura nods, affectionately scratching the kittens neck while doing so. "Yeah, found her outside," she coos, the pinkette lifts the kitten up, cradling it like a child, "isn't she adorable?"

He nods, chewing on his lip thoughtfully. He blinks once more, "how do we cook it?"

She stills, hand pausing on the kittens white belly - it mewls in loss, and starts rubbing its paw against her arm for attention. Sakura's eyes widen, she blinks, hard, before twitching a little. "WE DON'T EAT IT, BAKA!" She throws the nearest book at him, and scowls when he doges. She looks down at the kitten, "no we're not gonna eat you, we're gonna hold you, and feed you, and care for you, and love you and oh, you're so cute!" She makes humming sounds and pulls the purring kitten closer.

Sai raises an ebony eyebrow, "we?"

Sakura looks up, lips pursed, "would you rather we tossed it on the street?"

"Yes."

Her eyes widen in horror, "you're meant to say no, bastard!"

Sai looks somewhat embarrassed, "oh," he says in a monotone, "no," he corrects, looking pleased. "I do not want the dirty feral cat, that just came out of the alleyway, to remain in it's home, and out of my apartment. I would very much like it to remain in your arms."

Sakura nods approvingly, before petting the ginger tuff of fur on the kittens head, "good."

Sai makes to say something, but stops, tilts his head thoughtfully before opening his mouth. Sakura examines him carefully, expecting a biting remark about her hair. She watches as he pauses, nods to himself, and then opens his mouth - she braces herself for something rude.

"Why can't we eat the cat?"
