Author's Note! This is a Tales of Zestiria fan fiction. Okay, I read Fuyukichi's stories about Mikleo and Sorey as children and I couldn't help but write one of my own. This is in no way intended to be yaoi. I do not do yaoi; if you do then that's your thing. This is simply meant to be a sweet scenario, thank you.
"C'mon Mikleo! Let's go!" An ecstatic brown haired child said to his best friend/adopted brother.
"Wait! Sorey!" A small, white haired boy followed after him but ended up tripping over his own feet. The brown haired boy stopped and backtracked to check on his best friend.
"Are you okay, Mikleo?" The brunette asked concerned.
"Ow…" The other boy winced, sitting up and rubbing his knee.
"I'm sorry, Mikleo." Sorey apologized, with huge, worried green eyes.
"N-no. I'm okay." Mikleo said, offering a smile to Sorey. The bigger boy stood up and offered Mikleo a hand. Mikleo took his hand and Sorey pulled him up. But, he lost his balance and started to fall back down. Luckily, Sorey caught him and lowered him back down.
"What's wrong?!" He concerned.
"I think I… twisted my ankle."
"I'm sorry, it's my fault. I should have gone slower." Sorey apologized. "You want me to take you to Grandpa?"
"Alright."
…
"Mikleo can't play for a while, alright?"
"Ok." Sorey said.
"And you can watch Mikleo while I'm gone right?"
The boy nodded. The elderly man left. Sorey turned to Mikleo who was sitting on the floor with his leg propped up with a pillow.
"Don't worry Mikleo! I'll take care of you!" Sorey assured, smiling broadly.
"I-I don't really need much help…" The other boy said, a bit embarrassed.
"Oh, I know! Let's play a game!"
"What game?"
"Umm… Oh! We can play a board game!"
"But you don't like board games."
"I do too!"
"You said you didn't last time because I beat you all the time."
"Don't worry, I'll win this time!"
Sorey had a determined look in his eyes; Mikleo smirked just slightly.
"Okay, Sorey. We can play a board game."
….
"Ah! No fair, Mikleo!" Sorey pouted. Mikleo smirked slightly.
"I warned you."
"Let's go again!"
"Nah, let's play something else."
"No! I wanna play this one!"
"But you have a better chance of winning another game."
"Hmm… Alright, because for today, you get to make the decisions! It's your special day!"
"I'm not sure if I'd consider this special…"
"C'mon! It's my fault…"
"No, it's not your fault."
"But… I feel bad."
"Well, then why don't we play the special game?"
"The special one!?"
"Yes."
"Yay! I'll go get it!"
…..
When the elderly man returned to the house, he expected to see two children playing but what he saw was different. The two of them had fallen asleep on the floor while they were playing. The man just smiled and pulled a blanket over them.
