It was raining the day I got my letter. I remember the way the thick parchment felt in my hands, how heavy it was. The elegant scrawl was black as night, handwritten, and hard to read because of the extensive amount of loops and swirls and flourishes that adorned the otherwise simple words.

Dear Ms. Johnson,

We are delighted in informing you that, though you have not applied, you have been accepted to the Foxworth Hall Institution of Higher Learning. Here you will further your studies without the distraction of other students. We are aware that you are a dancer, and dancing facilities will be provided along with the most prestigious dance tutors money can buy. You will excel here. If you choose to accept you must arrive at Foxworth Hall on November 1.

Sincerely,

Amelia Grace-Foxworth

How could I choose otherwise but to go? It so delighted me to receive that letter, to have been noticed. I told Mother, who was wary at first, but eventually agreed to go. So my adventure began, and with a single letter, my life changed forever.
