A/N: Well, hello there. For the past two or so days I've been really interested in Loveless. I just randomly started to read the manga, and I just finished the anime. I love it! I still have to trick myself and say that Ritsuka is older then he really is, because really... that's WAY too young. XD lol.

This was written a little bit ago, and it was written really quickly. But, I like it. :D Hope everyone else does.

Disclaimer: I do not own Loveless. No sir, I do not.

In a Name

Ritsuka sighed and tugged on his ear, looking at the steaming bath in front of him. He needed to relax, after all the things his had been through in the past few weeks. It seemed ever since Soubi walked into his life, everything had been turned upside down and things were either going to hell or really looking up; he couldn't really tell, and it frustrated the shit out of him.

He gently lowered himself into the steaming water, wincing and hissing as the hot water hit his newly acquired wounds from his mother in one of her rages.

He soaked for a while, letting his fingers go prune-y. As he began to clean himself he noticed something on his back. It was just out of range for him to see it, but the corner of his eye caught it as he turned his head.

Ritsuka quickly finished with his back and hurried to a mirror. He could just make out the first couple letters right between his shoulder blades. "Lov."

Ritsuka had a slightly sinking feeling.

He rushed to the drawers in the bathroom to take out a hand mirror, so he could see his back fully. Once he took it out of the drawer he stood with this back to the mirror and held up the little hand mirror.

There it was. In block letters was the word "Loveless" right between his shoulder blades.

Ritsuka could have cried.

He dressed into his pajamas and curled up in bed. He held the phone that Soubi had given him in his hand and quietly debated with himself.

His fingers moved for him as he dialed the number he knew by heart.

-

Kio sucked on his sucker as he looked at the blank canvas in front of him. He just didn't know what to put on it. His inspiration was dead at the moment.

There was a ringing and Kio looked over where Soubi's cell phone was laying harmlessly on the floor. With a sigh, Kio reached over and took the phone flipping it open so he could see who was calling. A wicked smile lit up his face and he answered the phone.

"Hello!" Kio chirped, happily.

"…Soubi?" came the voice of Ritsuka from the other end.

Kio tapped his fingers on the floor as he smiled. "Soubi's using the bathroom. I can talk to you until he gets out Ritsuka-kun," Kio cooed.

There was a pause on the other side of the phone. "Ah… well, it- it wasn't important. Goodbye." The phone went dead.

Kio frowned. Ritsuka was a sad little kid; completely different than his older brother, which relieved Kio. Soubi didn't deserve someone like Seimei.

Kio set the phone down and looked at his blank canvas. It wasn't his usual style, but he knew what he wanted to put on it.

-

Ritsuka looked at the phone and set it on his nightstand. He didn't want to tell Soubi anyway. He didn't want to tell anyone. Telling anyone would make it all the more real.

-

Soubi walked out of the bathroom and looked to where Kio was working. He froze and stared at the canvas. On it was Soubi and Ritsuka standing beside each other holding hands and looking out at a sunset. The look on their faces on the canvas was breathtaking, and it made Soubi's heart ache.

"Ritsuka called, Sou-chan." Kio looked up at Soubi with a grin.

-

The cell phone rang many times, but Ritsuka didn't answer. He knew who it was, and even though he really wanted to talk to Soubi, he couldn't bring himself to move from his little ball that he had curled himself in.

He didn't want to be Loveless. In both senses of the word.

There it is!
