Hanatarou wasn't quite sure why they were here. When he'd first gotten the oddly shaped and colored invitation, he hadn't been exactly convinced that it wasn't a joke. But Ganjyu-san had insisted that they go - and here they were.
One thing could be said about Urahara-san, the man knew how to be festive. Even if being festive meant way too much green and so many lights Hanatarou was surprised they didn't blow a fuse. Not that he really knew what a fuse was, but Kurosaki-san had muttered something about it, and it had sounded like a reasonable complaint. The Shoten was full to the brim of both Shinigami and non-shinigami. The party was in full swing by the time they got there (Hanatarou knew he should have picked out his outfit the night before) and the other guests were already getting a little rowdy.
Being around his fellow Shinigami had always made him a little nervous, and being around drunk Shinigami made things a little worse. But these ones had always been, at the very least, decent to him, and Ganjyu-san wouldn't let anyone harm him. Although, he would be a little more certain of that fact if Ganjyu-san wasn't on the ground giggling like a little boy and having trouble sitting up.
In fact, Hanatarou was starting to suspect that someone (most likely Urahara-san) had spiked the punch. It hadn't tasted alcoholic, but the room was spinning just a little, and that had never happened to Hanatarou when he was sober. Even the ever-serious Quincy was acting a little tipsy, and he didn't seem like the drinking type.
Hanatarou decided that it might be a good time to escape before things got too wild (not that Matsumoto-fukutaicho and Yoruichi-san dancing on the tables wasn't wild) and stumbled over to collect Ganjyu-san from the floor so they could leave. It would have worked better if Urahara-san hadn't chosen that very moment to stick one foot out and consequently trip Hanatarou. He landed heavily on Ganjyu-san who made a small oofing noise on impact.
Hanatarou really had to wonder why anyone would think of hanging Mistletoe in the middle of the room. But tradition was tradition and Urahara-san was very insistent of that fact. So he took a deep breath and leaned forward to give Ganjyu-san a chaste kiss that he hoped would be forgotten by morning. His plan was foiled, however, when he found that Ganjyu-san had other ideas about how their kiss should go.
Well, one evening making out under a table with Ganjyu-san wouldn't kill him. Although he might die of embarrassment if any of the pictures made their way back to Seireitei.
