His eyes.

Before meeting Percy, her favorite color had been gray, like her own eyes, and her mother's. But that day on the porch of the Big House had changed that.

It was bright outside, the sun shining brighter than usual as if it was welcoming someone. Annabeth immediately thought of the dark haired boy that had defeated the Minotaur. He was the one, every instinct in her screamed. He had to be. Chiron had told her not to jump to conclusions but she couldn't help it. It was what she'd been hoping for.

Her footsteps were silent on the green grass as she made her way across camp to the Big House. From here, she could see Chiron and Mr. D at the table. She walked up and smiled at Chiron. Without saying a word, she leaned up against a pillar of wood and pulled out an architecture book.

Anticipation coursed through her. Thoughts of what the boy might do or become racing through her mind. None of the information was going through and for once, she had no interest in architecture.

Hearing footsteps, she glanced up slightly. Grover stood next to Mr. D while the dark haired boy stood a few feet away from the table, unsure of what to do. She took him all in, wondering how he'd help her. She noticed his disheveled hair looked as if he hadn't brushed it in days-which didn't surprise her. The glint of the sun shined down on him, preventing her from seeing his eye color clearly. He was scrawny but also only 12 years old.

She glanced back down at her book, not really listening to the conversation. She did catch the boy's name though-Percy. Percy. Short for Perseus, I guess. Whoever his mortal parent is probably named him after Perseus for good luck. But for demigods that rarely ever happened.

Suddenly she heard her own name. "This is Annabeth. She is the young lady who nursed you back to health." Chiron said, gesturing to her.

She put her book away and bit back a smile, remembering how he had drooled when he slept. Annabeth took a step forward and finally got a good look at his eyes.

They were beautiful. Now she wasn't some lovesick Aphrodite girl, but his eyes were beautiful, like the sea. They were a seagreen color. Their likeness of the actual sea color was uncanny and some small part of hr thought, he's a son of Poseidon, but the rest of her completely disregarded that.

He looked at her in a weird kind of way. She glanced down at the shoe box containing the Minotaur horn in his lap and she realized he was expecting her to compliment him. Cocky are we?

Mentally, she smirked. She wasn't gonna give into that. She opened her mouth to say something that would leave him speechless, but apparently her mouth had other plans. "You drool when you sleep." She could see that what she had said indeed left him speechless but she herself felt like she had just made a big mistake. Like she had just started something that she couldn't stop.

Annabeth turned and ran up the hill before anyone could see her blush. She cursed herself for blushing. And for thinking about what she had said as if it actually mattered.

Later that day, after introducing Percy to the rest of the camp, she lay on bed thinking about the day's events. Her mind, for once, didn't wander. It stayed on one particular topic, Percy and his eyes. Out of no where a thought flittered through her head, leaving her wondering what it could possibly be about Percy that left her so tongue tied and speechless.

My new favorite color is seagreen.
