None of this had been planned but even if she could go back and change it, she wouldn't. When she'd gotten pregnant she'd still been married to her waste of space ex and had been having an affair with James Hathaway. At first it hadn't been a serious affair but soon enough she'd fallen head over heels in love with him, still she never saw herself being in a position where she'd be free of her husband. With James neither of them had ever used or even considered contraception because they never thought a baby was a possibility or something that had even crossed their mind.

By the time Jean had discovered she was pregnant, James and he were committed in a secret way to one another. Abortion wasn't an option and even if it had have been the look on James' face when she told him of her pregnancy would have been enough to put her off. It was at that point that she got rid of her husband and moved James in. As her bump began growing they decided it was time to tell people what was going on.

For a while everyone was different with them but as long as she had James it didn't matter. It was at the 20 week scan that they discovered that the baby Jean was carrying was a girl. James was a brilliant and already a great father who was spoiling his daughter before she was even born. Three months later baby Holly arrived, she was stunning and both of her parents and even her older brother, who they were worried would want nothing to do with their little family, fell in love with her.

Four months further down the road, Jean was on maternity leave still and it was nearly time for Holly's first Christmas. It was the Friday before Christmas and only a few more hours until James would be finished for the year. The tree was up and the house was decorated and mostly in pink. James had bought Holly a pink romper suit with the words 'It's My First Christmas' on it and she had a stocking with the same thing.

Jean and James hadn't looked forward to Christmas so much in years and now they had Holly to spoil and make sure that her first Christmas was a good one.
