Eruka laid on her back, staring up at the sky. It was over. It was completely over. They had succeeded in releasing the Kishin. And Medusa had died.

She was gone.

Which meant that Eruka was free.

Speaking of free…

She turned to look at the immortal who was sitting next to her, staring at the sky as she had been. She pushed up on her elbows and cocked her head.

"What next?"

Eruka blinked, blanching as she realized they had asked the question simultaneously. Apparently, neither of them had any idea what they should be doing from here on out.

"Uh…" she started. "Well… uh…"

They stared at each other blankly as Eruka's voice faded into silence. Huffing, Eruka stood and placed her hands on her hips. She had to be the one to come up with something, after all. Free was terrible with ideas.

"We could go after those kids on their missions anyway," he suggested before she could think of something.

She stared at him, a deadpan expression on her face. That was why he wasn't allowed to come up with the ideas. "No! That's a terrible plan! We have to enjoy our newfound freedom! Think of it: you're actually free this time! You don't even have a debt to pay!"

He blinked, mystified. And then he jumped up, pumping his fist in the air and grinning like the maniac he was.

"Ha! Yes! I can accomplish all of my goals!"

Eruka's smile faded, to be replaced by a twitching eyebrow and a grimace as she listened to Free's seemingly endless list of things he wanted to do, each item more ridiculous than the last.

She honestly wasn't sure if it would be a good idea to leave him alone.

"Uh… maybe I should come with you," she suggested, wondering if he would say no.

They had been partners working for Medusa, but without her…

He blinked. "Weren't you coming anyway?"

She smiled. "Of course! Let's get started! It'll be like a road trip or a vacation!"

He nodded enthusiastically and gave her a thumbs-up.

She returned it before transforming into her frog form and hopping onto his shoulder, relieved that he wanted her along.

"All right! First stop, Mt. Everest! I'm going to climb the mountain without using my abilities!"

Eruka balked. "What? You're not serious!"

He nodded and took off running at top speed.

"Wait! You know you can't run there, right? It's on another continent!"

He stopped abruptly, making himself trip and sending Eruka flying. She groaned as she landed, shaking her head as she regained her bearings. She glared at the clumsy werewolf, coming across as intimidating as a frog could. He didn't notice, too busy frowning at his ruined plan.

"Hm… we'll have to think this through for a minute."

She sighed and went back to her human form, plopping onto the ground and staring up at the sky.

Right back where they started.

But she supposed she didn't mind too much. He was an idiot, but he was good company anyway.

She looked at him out of the corner of her eye, smiling slightly at his thoughtful, slightly pained expression.

Freedom was nice.

*Shameless fangirling over this ship!*

No joke, I adore them…

And though I wrote them as more of a friendship than a romantic relationship, I think they'd just be very comfortable with each other.

It's nice.
