Relationships: Soulmates
Buffy stood alone beside her mother's grave "I knew you would come thanks" she said her eyes never straying from the headstone and mound of dirt.
"I had to Buffy you needed me I felt it, always could" Angel said to his beloved wrapping his arms around her waist.
"I can't believe we weren't talking haven't been for a while then someone calls me and she's dead."She tried to keep her voice void of emotion but a sob slipped out. Buffy tried to hold back the tears and be the warrior that she was. "Damn you, you always break down my walls but I can't have that now Angel it's my destiny to be without emotion and alone tears are not an option anymore."
Connor looked his mate in the eyes, they were hollow and held none of the fire that made her the best, that made her Buffy. "Your never alone Buffy you have Giles and your friends and Dawn…" but Angel was off by the dead stare as Buffy's filled with tears.
"Dawn died four months ago Angel and I may be surrounded by people but I am always alone" she replied.
Angel looked at her in horror her sister was dead "how did she die, why didn't you call?"
"Demon attack a vengeance kill, I killed its mate and it killed my sister …..I don't even know the words to describe what it did to her. And I didn't call because you have your own life now plus you had an apocalypse on your turf at the time and why would you even care" Kate explained trying to hide the pain that laced her voice.
"Of course I care Buffy I loved the lass like a sister and if it was you or an apocalypse it will always be you , you are soulmate Mo chori, my heart and you know that !" he said with a mix of passion and pain.
She broke out of his embrace "soulmate, Angel your soulmate is dead she died when you left." Angel didn't speak Buffy turned to look her mate in the eyes "you promised me forever, so tell me when did forever end". And with that she left the cemetery to go kill things.
Angel watched her as she walked away "it never did love, it never ended."
