Hey everyone. I'm back with another assignment for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry Challenges and Assignments. I choose to write for Charms Task one which was to either write about someone who is locked in somewhere or locked out of somewhere. My mind automatically went to one of the Marauders. My least favorite one at that. I hope you all enjoy.
The approaching footsteps urged Peter Pettigrew on as they drew ever nearer. He didn't know how he had gotten separated from the other Marauders but he had and now he was being chased by God knows what.
"Have to get back to the Common Room," he whispered frantically to himself.
Of course the other boys had the Marauders Map and he was on his own which in it's own right was pretty darn scary to him. But to have to make it to the Common Room on his own was another thing all together.
"Their this way," he heard Filch mutter to himself.
"Darn," Peter whispered to himself as he hid in an alcove until Filch passed. "If I remember correctly it's down this way." He went in the direction he thought he remembered the Common Room being in.
It had been a few minutes since he lost Filch which he saw as a relief. He kept walking in the direction he had been heading in almost getting caught by Professor Flitwick and couple of Prefects.
"How much further?" he asked himself after walking up a flight of stairs.
He heard manic laughter from overhead. Looking up he saw the last thing he wanted to see. Peeves the Poltergeist floating right over top of him. He shook his head telling Peeves not make a sound.
"Why you shaking your head for?" Peeves yelled as loud as he could.
He didn't even answer the Poltergeist he just took off running down the hallway. Sighing in relief as he caught sight of the Fat Lady's portrait. Now all he had to do was get in there.
"Password?" the Fat Lady deadpanned.
"Cauldron Cakes," Peter said warily.
"No."
"Bertie Bott."
"No."
"Pumpkin Pasties."
'No."
Peter sighed. This was just his luck though wasn't it. He made it to the Common Room and now he was locked out. He should have written down the darn password somewhere. He knew that decision was going to come back and haunt him at some point. But no he had to listen to James and Sirius.
"Lemon Sherbert," he guessed again.
"No. That's not it either," the Fat Lady told him.
Getting angrier with the portrait and himself Peter began bang on the doorway as loud as he could hoping against hope someone was in the Common Room right now. He had been knocking for a while when he heard approaching footsteps and someone talking.
"Are you sure the Poltergeist told you there was someone out of bed in this corridor?" came the voice that Peter knew all to well. The voice of his head of house Professor McGonagall.
"Yes, ma'am," she heard Filch. He stopped right in front of where Peter was hiding. "Come out. Come out wherever you are."
Peter tried to move as far back as he could but his foot hit something. He closed his eyes as the sound blared like a trumpet being played at full blast. He closed his eyes as Filch's hand closed around his shoulder.
"I've found him, Ma'am," Filch said shoving Peter forward.
McGonagall said the password to the portrait and then turned back to Peter and Filch. She sighed looking between the two of them and nodded Peter towards the door.
"We will discuss your detention tomorrow morning, Mr. Pettigrew," she said.
"Yes, Professor McGonagall," he said.
With that he trudged through the Common Room and up the stairs to his dorm to find the other three sitting on their bed waiting for him. He sighed and got into bed without changing. Tomorrow was going to be a long day.
There you have it Locked out. I hope everyone enjoyed my little bit of fluff at Peter Pettigrew's expense.
