It's Nationals in NYC, and when Quinn Fabray and Rachel Berry spot Shelby Cocoran and her baby, they stop dead in their tracks. The two who hate each other share a mutual look of surprise, and sadness.
To Rachel's surprise, Shelby has come backstage to visit her biological daughter, while holding Quinn and Puck's little Beth. Rachel and Shelby have a private talk, while Quinn glances at her daughter with a disgruntled look. Puck is looking too, though Quinn does not see this. However, Quinn feels especially jealous that Beth does not seem to resemble her at all. She has Puck's eyes, his lips, and her bit of hair seems rather dark too. The pair both have tears in their eyes as Beth plays with Rachel's loose hair while her mother tells her she's so sorry for last year.
That should be me, Quinn thinks jealously, but does not have the courage to visit her own daughter.
Then, it happens.
Shelby is just about to let Rachel hold Beth, when suddenly, there is vomit everywhere. All over Rachel's performance dress. Shocked, and disgusted, she screams in surprise and anger, and Quinn finds herself laughing so hard that Shelby hears and turns to her direction. She tries her best to stiffle the laughs, but Shelby is smiling too. As Rachel storms off to the bathroom, she allows Quinn to hold her little Beth, and Quinn cries as she loves on her daughter for the second time.
