TITLE: Got a Joke
SUMMARY: Dawn has a joke for Spike. A really bad one. Mild, brief swearing, no romance. ONESHOT.
DISCLAIMER: I do not own Buffy: The Vampire Slayer or any of the characters or locations herein. They belong to Joss. Please don't sue me, as I own nothing of value.
AN: Dawn doesn't really make friends with Spike until after Riley leaves, so this story is very slightly AU. Just pretend that they were friendly before Riley left, mm'kay?

The door of the crypt banged open.
"No," Spike said loudly. "I don't care what it is, I don't care if you need information, I don't care if it's another bleeding apocalypse. Just get out. Go back to shagging Captain Cardboard or group therapy with your bloody Scoobies or—oh. It's you, Nibblet."
"Hi," said Dawn cheerfully. "Got a joke. Want to hear?"
Spike sighed, and glanced out the crypt window. Sunshine. Damn it. He heaved another sigh. "Fine."
Dawn grinned and sat down next to him. She held out her right hand, palm-down, stuck out her thumb, and began to circle it. "Guess what this is."
Spike leaned back and covered his eyes with his hand. "It's your hand, bit," he said wearily. "It's your hand with your thumb stuck out and you're wrigglin' it about in circles."
"No, it's the Awkward Turtle," Dawn explained patiently.
Spike opened his eyes and stared at her.
"Well, actually, this is the Awkward Turtle—" she put her left hand under her right, and wriggled that thumb, too, "—but this way, it's only got one fin, see? It's the Awkward Turtle with only one fin, because it gave the other one to Riley!" Dawn snorted with laughter at her own joke.
Spike stared.
"Get it?" asked Dawn, her smile faltering. "See, because Riley's last name is Finn, and he's a pretty awkward person, so the Awkward Turtle gave him a fin—"
"Get out."
Dawn pouted. "Fine," she grumbled. She slouched back outside and shut the door behind her.
It was only after she had gone that Spike burst into laughter.

The End! And I apologize for the awful that is that joke. I just thought that Dawn would get a kick out of it, and expect everyone else to, as well. Now, you see that little "review" button?
