"Who is the person that invented amazing, relaxing, warm tropical vacations?" Paige asked her companion, looking at them over the top of her brown designer shades. "I want to marry them."
"Well, I'm not quite sure who that genius person is, but since your parents sprang for this trip, I'm guessing we should be thanking them. Sans marriage proposals, though," Alex responded, legs sprawled out in front of her on the yellow beach chair, facing the sky, utterly relaxed.
"Oh, yeah. I really do love those guys," Paige said with a smirk, taking a sip of her drink - which she had absolutely no clue of what it was - but it was adorned with one of those cute little umbrellas, making it delicious and totally vacation-drink worthy.
Paige's parents, the wonderful people that they were, decided to give Paige, along with a friend of her choosing, a trip to the Mexican Riviera during the holiday as an early Christmas present. And since Alex worked so hard this last semester to try to get her grades up before applying to universities, Paige thought she could use the vacation and it'd be a nice little getaway for them since their privacy has been limited due to their two other, very nosy, roommates. Anyways, who else would she take besides her girlfriend?
Usually, Paige was the kind of person who could never just do nothing; she always had to be doing something productive. But this past semester, with her flunking out of Banting, had her really stressed out; more than the stressed-out-Paige-Michalchuck usual. This vacation might be just the thing she needed to calm down her frequent panic attacks. There's nothing wrong with a little R&R every once in a while, after all.
At the fancy all-inclusive resort that the girls were staying at, they could do anything they wanted – for free. There was parasailing, kayaking, snorkeling, catamaran rides, water sports, anything and everything beach-fun worthy. But the girls didn't even want to think about any of those things. This vacation was all about relaxing; relaxing on the beach, relaxing in the hot tub, relaxing in the pool, and pretty much just relaxing anywhere else you could possibly relax.
Right now, the girls were laying on the beach, soaking up the sun. Paige was wearing a pink and white polka-dotted bikini while Alex was wearing a black bikini top with black surf shorts; their hair piled on their heads in messy buns, neither of them caring how they looked right now. They had just gotten to the resort that morning and had a couple snafu's at the check-in counter; so, as soon as they got situated in their rooms, they changed into their swimsuit attire and headed down to the beach for some rest.
After the girls ordered and received their drinks from the waitress, Paige began reading her book while Alex was listening to music; both extremely content and, of course, relaxed.
But, the girls were so tired from their travels, it was only a matter of time before they fell asleep – under the scorching sun.
As soon as Alex began to blink her eyes open, the sun hit her in the eyes.
"What the-" then Alex remembered; the plane, the check-in counter, the beach… falling asleep. "Oh, crap!" Alex shot up in the chair, writhing in pain from the sunburn she acquired.
"Paige!" Alex said while shaking the sleeping blonde by the shoulder. Somehow, during her slumber, Paige had managed to turn around face down on the chair, letting her entire back catch the burning rays of the sun. "Paige, wake up."
"Alex," Paige whined, not opening her eyes. "What's you problem, let me sleep-" uh-oh. "Oh, crap!" Paige quickly sat up in her chair just like Alex did, arching her back in pain.
This was definitely not the best way to kick-off vacation.
