True Wub
She blushed and stammered in front of Bolin, trying to explain why she didn't want to go on a date with him. How could she possibly explain? True love, on first sight was an incredible thing, and the person, oh, the person of her admiration he surely would never approve of. After her run in with the metal benders that first day, she couldn't get out of her mind her fateful encounter with...
Sparkling!Bush Man.
Korra couldn't get out of her mind the man's incredible handsomeness, his bushy brows, his silvery soft hair, his all-natural manicure of dirt encrusted nail and his tailor-made rags, his broken teeth. The moment she'd offered the fish to him, she had been nothing more than a-flutter with love- his request had been nothing but purest poetry ("fishies" indeed!). And oh, to speak of the beauteous abode he lived in itself. It was magnificent, a thing of incredible beauty the bush, the greatest bush in all of Republic City. And what a fantastic view it had of the lake.
With distraught tears in her eyes, she had taken his advice to heart before leaving, the wisest words she would ever hear. It was with his advice Korra finally mastered airbending- "Skedaddle", indeed. To flow away from one's troubles and around them was the very essence of air bending!
After Amon's attacks, Tenzin mistakenly believed Korra was terrified of him and losing her bending. Nothing could be further from the truth- after all, Amon had not managed to posses The Sparkling Bush. No, she was terrified that her second meeting with Bush Man would result in rejection. Unable to take it any more, the young Avatar sneaked out to meet him. There she learned his name.
Gommu.
It was not long before others became jealous of their incredible bush, and Tarrlok tried to use his blood bending on Gommu to evict him. With the wisdom he had taught her, Korra unleashed her incredible air bending powers upon Tarrlok and sent him flying out of the city!
Unfortunately, in the process the bush was destroyed. It was then Korra realized.
She hadn't loved him. It had been the bush. All the bush.
The world broke in the sea of her unending tears, and her rage and grief unlocked her Avatar State. Chi flushed through the roots, and she became the world's first real Wood Bender. Springing to life, the bush and her lived happily ever after, with 14 kids and 1 polar bear dog.
