Right On The Horizon
by Girl Of Many Stories
A/N- This is just a little ficlet about Charlie Stewart and Connie Baker from Mona Lisa Smile. I didn't see a catagory for Mona Lisa Smile. The title and a few lines from the story are based on the line at Betty's wedding where Charlie say "My parents say my future is right on the horizon." and Connie says "Tell them that the horizon is an imaginary line that recedes as you approach it." Just a fluffy romantic little ficlet I wrote because I am a hopeless romantic. Enjoy! Oh and if you would like, press the pretty button at the bottom and review please?
"Charlie?" Constance "Connie Baker" and her beau, Charlie Stewart were lying in the grass on the Wellesley Campus, holding each other and talking. They had had a rough patch and a case of mistaken intent (I think) but now they are closer than ever.
"What is it kitten?" His rich voice echoed in her ears and she shivered at the sound of his nickname for her because he said she yawned like a little kitten.
"Do you want to marry me?" Charlie sat up rather quickly and turned to look at her, look of pure shock on his face.
"What kind of question is that?" Charlie's head was filled with a thousand questions but this one was the only one he managed to get out.
"I'm just wondering. We both graduate this year and I was just well, wondering if I was on the horizon with your future " She looked up into the eyes of the man she loved and wanted to spend the rest of her life with.
"Of course I want to marry you. Ever since Betty's wedding, I've been dreamng of the day I could do this" He pulled her up, pulled something out of his pocket, and got down on one knee.
"Constance Baker, for a long time, I gave up hope that I would fall in love. Until I met you. You challenged. You challenged me and pushed me to follow my dream. You are my inspiration, my muse (repetitive I know, but it sounded sweet in my head so :-P) and my love. Be mine forever? I won't force you to be a housewife. Yes, I want a family but I also want you to be happy. You can have you career, I'll support you in any way I can. Will you be my wife, the mother of my children if you want them and my equal, forever and ever? By this time they both had tears in their eyes and Connie stood there still in slight shock. She finally managed to say after a minute.
"After a speech like that, how can I say no? Yes, Yes, a thousand times YES!" She pulled him off his knee and allowed him to slip the beautiful diamond ring onto her finger. She then leaned up and kissed him sweetly and passionately. He responded enthusiastically. When they came up for breath, she said in a whisper,
"So, am I on you horizon now?" He smiled and pulled her closer for a kiss.
"Darling, you ARE my horizon." They kissed again as the sun fell below the horizon.
That last part sounds stupid but it sounded so good in my head, but on paper it doesn't look so good. Must review please? I worked super hard on this fic. PLEASE REVIEW!!!!!!!!!!!!
