The sophisticated arrangement of engraved, curved lines aligned the ceiling. Walls of the study were decorated with portraits of refined men and women; their expressions stoic as their eyes roamed around on occasion.

Along the walls were notes taped with ideas regarding different venues, foods, and flowers. In front of one of those walls was a burgundy, leather chair with a man perched in it, watching someone in front of him.

The light taps of that someone pacing sounded in the study; a light swish of a shoe pivoting to move in the other direction was evident. Hands were clasped behind a tall man's form while his dark robes billowed with each step he took.

"I just want to make sure I heard this right, Adrian," the man said. "Could you repeat it again?"

The man addressed as Adrian sighed and ran a hand through his raven black hair. His dark brown eyes glanced up to his best mate with weary eyes. "You're not my Best Man anymore, Terence. I had to give it to my brother, Killian."

Terence stopped pacing and faced Adrian, who was sitting behind the desk with his legs crossed. Terence's expression depicted annoyance. "Who's bright idea was this, hm?" He asked with pursed lips; the nerve in his temple twitched at his brow.

"Mother's," Adrian answered with another sigh. "Come on, mate, you know I don't like this as much as anyone else but it's the one thing she's asked for. I can't deny her that."

"Your mother hates me. Only Merlin knows why," Terence retorted with a snort. "Of course it was her only wish. She doesn't want me involved." He began to pace.

"I know that-"

"And another thing. Killian is not allowed to plan your bachelor party," Terence demanded. "I'll be damned before that buffoon brings in girls and ruin your wedding to Mathilda, the soon to be Mrs. Pucey."

"I don't know whether to be offended on behalf of my brother or not."

"Have you ever?"

"Good point."

Terence ran a hand through his dirty blonde hair. "Can I at least help plan like I'm still your Best Man?"

Adrian stood up, walking towards the pacing man. "I wouldn't have it any other way, mate."

"Your mother would," Terence snarked.

Adrian rolled his eyes. "My mother isn't here right now, and it's still my wedding. Just because you're not my Best Man anymore, doesn't mean you're less involved."

Terence tilted his head dramatically as if he was thinking on Adrian's words.

"You have my word," Adrian added.

Terence turned to his friend again, giving him a brotherly hug. "I know you do, and I trust that you'll keep your word."

Adrian returned the hug before pulling away. "That was resolved rather quickly," he mused before reaching out to Terence with his hand.

Terence accepted the hand and gave him a firm handshake. "Mostly because you'll never change the fact that I'm the best man, regardless of whether I have the title of Best Man." He smirked at Adrian before sending the groom a sly wink. "I'll see you tomorrow about the suits."

Adrian gave Terence a nod. "See you then, Higgs."

As he turned on his heel and began to leave the study, Terence heard his friend chuckle; he knew that Adrian was shaking his head as he did it.

When he was in the hallway, Terence let out a chuckle of his own. Adrian was lucky to have the best man around.
