Together: Part One
I want us to stay together. -Tohru Honda
She always regretted being asleep the day her mother died. The one day, just that one day, she was tired. And she waved her mother off. Forgetting to warn her mother to be careful, to watch out for herself. And the one day she didn't give her her blessing, she didn't make it home.
So when her son was diagnosed with leukemia she made sure she was by his side every step of the way. So much so that her son was up to his wits with her. It was officially driving him crazy, and he did yell at her about it sometimes. But he always apologized. After radiation and chemotherapy treatments he always thanked her and told her how much he appreciated her being there. She just took his hand in hers and cried.
"I know. I loved you too." She repeated every time he thanked her.
Once the doctors said that he was completely cured, five years after he stopped with his sessions of chemotherapy she cried for what seemed like hours. And Kyo held her and their son while they all wept. It was like being freed from the curse all over again. A curse of fear, fear that the ones you love the most will be taken away from you.
And just as they had the first time, they all cried tears of happiness.
A/N: Tears of happiness, gods, I'm mixing FMA and Fruits Basket now.
For those who don't know, after being treated for cancer you have to wait a period of five years before you are deemed completely cured. This is because during that expanse of five years after having cancer you are very susceptible to getting it again. So after five years it is considered to be the time when you are completely cured.
If you have any additional information about cancer please send that to me in a review. It would help the development of this story greatly.
