Afternoon Delight

A/N: hello there! This little one-shot just came to me out of nowhere. I had a concept, I wanted to write it – and it came out a lot different than I had imagined. But hey, sometimes my mind just gets away from me…

Anyway, do enjoy, and make sure to review at the end! Much appreciated!

In a quiet moment of the mid-afternoon, Lisa Cuddy likes to sneak in something a little fun. Her job doesn't leave much room for personal time, but every now and then the overwhelming urge is too much, and she has to get away for a moment.

She slips into her office, the smooth and silky glides of her strides weaving away from the gazes of the curious nurses. She lets a smile creep onto her face as a whole day's worth of anticipation builds and builds again when she sits down in her big leather chair. She knows this isn't really policy, but she's been fantasizing for hours on end about the building excitement of each draw, and every push of the finger. It's always a little different everytime, different ways to reach the finish.

She's been doing it for years, when people aren't watching. She sneaks away to behind her desk, and satisfies her secret urge. With every time, she gets better and better, until she can reach the end in just over a minute. She is secretly proud of her times, and keeps a list hidden at the back of her stationery draw.

Of course she never tells anyone. Especially not House. No, he would get far too much pleasure out of it. So she keeps it to herself, her quiet trips away, and always tries to remain as inconspicuous as possible.

She wets her lips in anticipation, her hands poised, ready to begin. She starts at a steadier pace, pushing and dragging to just the right spot. She smiles as she senses what's coming next, her excitement pushing her speed to record breaking. Her breath quickens as she gets closer and closer to completion. Finally, she reaches the end, and lets out an energized 'yes'. She quickly opens her desk draw, before her exhilaration wanes, and pulls out her tiny notebook, riddled with numbers that only she understands. She picks up her pen, and in the next empty space writes '79 seconds', a new personal record. She knows there is someone out there that is probably faster than her, but beating her own personal best is all that counts.

She returns the notebook to the draw before leaning back in her soft leather chair and letting out a deep sigh of contentment.

Lisa Cuddy just loves a good game of computer solitaire.

A/N: oh! Get your minds out of the gutter! Hehehehe! Bet you didn't see that one coming! But hey, I often find myself fantasizing about a good game of solitaire… my own record is 83 seconds – and I hope to get even faster! lol! So let me know what you think… review!
